House Republicans are heading into the 2026 midterm cycle with record-breaking cash and a shrinking battlefield. Despite the polls and the narrative being pushed by the mainstream media, Republicans seem to have momentum that Democrats appear unable to match. And Democrats can’t spin this, no matter how hard they try.
Rep. Richard Hudson, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, told CBS News this week that the NRCC raised $47.1 million in the first quarter of the year, the largest first-quarter haul in the committee's history. March alone brought in $28.1 million, also a record. The committee now has $78.2 million in cash on hand and has raised $164.4 million for the entire cycle.
"This is the best first quarter we've ever had," Hudson said, adding that Republican donors understand what's at stake. "Republican donors are investing. They understand that the House majority is a firewall against Democrat overreach."
Meanwhile, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced it raised $45.3 million in the same period. For the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, I should point out that’s a smaller amount than the GOP raised.
More importantly, the DCCC has only $70 million cash on hand compared to the NRCC's $78.2 million, and that cash-on-hand gap is the number that will actually matter when campaigns go into full sprint mode this fall.
Now, you could argue that the difference is negligible. But, hear me out.
Here’s the thing: the out-of-power party usually raises big money in midterm cycles because grassroots anger drives donations. Opposition energy is a legitimate force, and frustrated voters tend to open their wallets very, very wide. So, with that dynamic already baked into these numbers, Republicans are still ahead.
If I were in the Democrat Party leadership, I’d flag this as a problem.

Sure. Sure.
We’ve been hearing for the last six months about the blue wave that’s coming in November.
Of course, the Democrats receive billions of dollars of in-kind donations from the mainstream media, university professors, elementary and secondary school teachers etc etc.
Don’t sell Robert Reich’s influence short.
Desperation would be shown in the even more violent veiled threats this week. That execrable Hakeem Jeffries vowing to break the spirit and the rest. And you can’t get much worse than castration centers and internment camps for Jews and Zionists as that horrible woman threatened.
Another of my odd personal notes: My dead mother (mean alcoholic, abusive, narcissistic, man hating) used to brag in my presence “I broke his spirit when he was a kid. Broke his spirit.” When it hear Hakeem it triggers me.
Is that a height joke for Reich?
Byron York would disagree. He’s on our side so what gives? Do they ALL make they’re living stirring the pot?
We need more public figures betting their own money on the outcomes. Find out who the real confident ones are. I wouldn’t bet any of my money on an election but the rats are so sure of themselves when it costs them nothing. Make them put up or shut up.
Imagine if a republican put one of these big mouth democrats on the spot on national television. See if they’ll shake hands on it. When the rat doesn’t pay up it will expose hem again-too late.

Wow, Frank. I had no idea. I’m sorry you had to live through that. Fortunately you made it through with your humanity.
Let Hilliary lend them her famous ‘overcharged’ button from her days of drunken diplomacy
Mr. Ballenger, respect to you. Despite what you went through you rose above it with grace and wisdom:
The left is miserable, hates everyone and everything while trying to bully people into submission.
Do the Democrats think that independent registered folks cannot see and feel that?
Rush always reminded us...there is a long way to go between now and November
I keep on seeing polls showing Dems with an 11 point lead in the midterms yet their approval rating is 15 percent..so how is that even possible
The death of the Democrat party has been announced several times, including on FR. And in every instance, it’s been wrong.
I buy all the items you listed when in sale including sugar bomb sodas. I do eat lots of gmo veggies & fruits when they are on sale. I am 86, in athletic shape with zero health issues.
This is possible because I accidentally discovered how beneficial daily aerobic exercise is. I never miss it in 365 days if the year unless I have fever which was one day in 35 years. Exercise even benefits my memory & have no symptoms of dementia.
Politics is so tiring and so damn nauseating. Same old, same old.
I'd like to hear her say how Democrat policies have improved anybody's life.
I remember Rush saying, “The events that will determine the outcome of the election have not happened yet.”
We're in the magical world of 165 days before the election.
As we get closer to the election, the margin will decrease, and decrease, and decrease... until just before election day, when it will be (drum roll) TOO CLOSE TO CALL!
Only way the Democrats will change is if they are crushed in a big election and so far that has not happened—They have been on a leftist winning streak—look they are electing openly Communists now. Communists! Not just socialists now. They see New York as the vanguard of a national sweep. The left is on the march—look at the violence and assassination
talk—But their day is almost done. Democrats need to be humbled, crushed, leaders in jail for corruption—only then will they go back to normal—or what passes for normal with a Democrat.
Turning the cheat knob to eleven!
