Kamala Harris endorses Karen Bass for LA mayor, claiming she’s stamped out crime and homelessness

Kamala Harris has weighed in on the LA mayor’s race and issued endorsements in several other contests — but refused to back a gubernatorial candidate.

The former VP, who now lives in Malibu, endorsed incumbent Karen Bass for mayor of the second-largest city in the US.

“She has my full support for re-election,” the Democrat said.

The two have known each other for more than two decades and were once rumored rivals for the vice presidency when Joe Biden pledged to select a woman as his running mate in 2020.

Bass, who is serving her first term, was sworn in as mayor while Harris was still serving as vice president.

As Bass faces scrutiny and uncertainty in her re-election bid — particularly amid backlash over her handling of the deadly Palisades Fire — Harris pointed to her record on homelessness and crime.

“Mayor Karen Bass is the leader Los Angeles needs right now. She has done what so many said couldn’t be done — the first-ever two-year decline in homelessness, reducing crime to levels this city hasn’t seen since the 1960s, and refusing to back down when the federal government came after our neighbors,” Harris said in a statement.

In the City of Los Angeles, unsheltered homelessness decreased by just 7.9%, while sheltered homelessness increased by 4.7%, according to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

Crime in the city is also steadily declining, with a 19% drop in homicides in 2025 compared to 2024. The number of homicides in 2025 is the lowest since 1966, according to LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell.

Harris weighed in on the race just as mail-in ballots reached residents, who are beginning to make their choices.

Has Kamala been drinking again? Sounds like an 80 proof endorsement.

Not to mention her amazingly successful improvement and renewal program in the Pacific Palisades.

That would be a hilarious billboard for the GOP to put up:

Vote Karen Bass! Kamala says she's reduced crime and homelessness to 1960s level! Just look around!

Then under it, a picture of Bass and Harris holding wine glasses and laughing hysterically. Billboards everywhere! LOL!

I’m not sure endorsements are a good idea. Mussolini had a hard time understanding the repeated attempts of his foreign office to tell him his elaborate praise of FDR was hurting FDR. President Trump and JD Vance repeatedly made comments of support to Hungary’s leader Viktor Orbán. According to pundits those endorsements hung on Orban’s neck like a milestone. I suspect that’s what Trump had in mind. Apparently, Kamala Harris either has no understanding that she’s political poison or she wants this candidate to lose.

“...Kamala Harris endorses Karen Bass”

Who has the lowest IQ? Throw in Ketanji Brown Jackson for fun.

A three-way tie at the moron level would be appropriate.

These people are in a different universe.

Yeah, it's called being in a small, exclusive, powerful club, and we aren't in it. The DEMs just needed to wait long enough for a VAST majority of Americans to become weak and compliant to pull off this nonsense. As a whole, we passed that threshold years ago.

the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority

Now what incentive does a well paying, employing agency like the “Homeless Services Authority” have to wipe out homelessness?

Your comment is quite true. These lefties in Commiefornia live in their own bubble that is detached from the realities of real America. And when you have lefties with IQ’s significantly below the national average, such as Harris or AOC, the problem only gets worse.
