Florida Legislature passes redistricting plan creating four additional GOP-leaning House seats

State lawmakers on Wednesday passed redrawn congressional lines that create an additional four GOP-leaning seats in Florida, making it the eighth state to complete mid-decade redistricting in the 2026 election cycle — and likely setting up a historic legal challenge in the state.

The proposal passed the Florida state House and Senate on largely partisan lines, even as some members of the Republican majorities have expressed skepticism about redrawing the congressional lines. Florida GOP lawmakers largely remained silent publicly as the state has become part of a Trump-backed mid-decade redistricting push designed to beef up Republicans' slim U.S. House majority ahead of the midterms.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

A slanted article but the point is that Florida just passed their new redistricting map. It now goes to DeSantis for his signature.

Let’s hope they avoided the obvious mistakes by the mentally retarded Dems in Virginia.

Everything in the US is run by the rulings of judges.
The top branch of the government over two assistant ones handling maid and butler roles: House and Senate.

The best thing about this is it redraws the seat currently held by Debbie Wasserman Schultz to one that heavily favors the GOP.

HA HA HA HA. Suck it donkeys. Where ya gonna go now?

Oh that’s right! You have absolutely nowhere to go to counter this. California and Virginia were your two big plays and one of those is in limbo. Meanwhile Republicans could gerrymander even further (Indiana and Georgia) if the local RINOs ever grow a spine. You’ve already maxed out your blue states.

Question is...

Does gerrymandering control how people have to vote?

Based on this DeSantis interview with Laura Ingram I don’t think FL will have any of the problems VA is having. His reasons are solid IMHO.

Mississippi needs to do it too along with ALL red states, two can play at this game. Dems started it by importing MILLIONS of illegals into this country to gain congressional seats, Id say the GOP is owed at least 25 house seats

I’d call that “Overwhelming” party vote but PMS NOW would probably call it “too close to call”

“ Dems started it by importing MILLIONS of illegals into this country to gain congressional seats,”

The three states with the most number of illegal residents are 1) California, 2) Texas & 3) Florida.

Illegal aliens have actually helped Republican representation in Texas and Florida.

Not in Orange County, blame it on fraud(taking 3 weeks to count the votes) but districts that used to be solid Republican flipped blue, yeah again I blame that on 3 weeks to count the votes

To answer your question, it gets rid of the gerrymander of a district. (The one that looks like a rorschach inkblot test)

They made districts that jump miles away to bypass certain areas. If you were being sarcastic I share the same humor.

Just a rhetorical question; not sarcastic.

People don't vote depending on how a district was drawn A district drawn to favor blacks doesn't mean that all the people in the district will vote according to what the majority blacks were expected to vote. Even blacks don't have to vote 'black' because a district was drawn to favor blacks.

Nothing is more racist than a district drawn to favor blacks or whites or Hispanics or Asians or any ethnic or religious group.
