Israel carried out its largest coordinated airstrike of the ongoing Lebanon war on April 8, hitting more than 100 Hezbollah command centers, headquarters, intelligence sites, missile infrastructure, and Radwan Force positions across Beirut, the Bekaa Valley (including areas near Zahle), and southern Lebanon.
The Israeli Air Force used approximately 50 fighter jets to complete the operation, dubbed a “surprise strike” by the IDF, in roughly 10 minutes. The military said the targets were being used for planning attacks against Israel.
The strikes came just hours after the announcement of a U.S.-Iran ceasefire. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated explicitly that the truce does not apply to Israel’s campaign against Hezbollah, and the operation proceeded without prior public warning in several areas.
The Viral “Coup Plot” Rumor
The scale and speed of the operation have triggered a widely circulating story on X claiming that Israel acted on high-level intelligence to prevent an imminent Hezbollah-led coup in Lebanon.
A detailed and highly engaged post by prominent pro-Israel activist Marc Zell (@GOPIsrael) claimed that Israel thwarted a planned coup by Hezbollah, the Amal movement, and allied Shia groups. According to Zell, the plot involved seizing the Grand Serail Palace (Lebanon’s government headquarters) in the early afternoon “zero hour” after the Iran ceasefire. The goal was reportedly to topple the government of President Joseph Aoun, take full control, and then negotiate directly with the United States via Naim Qassem and Nabih Berri, bypassing Israel entirely.
Similar versions of the story have been echoed by multiple accounts. U.S. Navy veteran Nick Matau (@nick_matau) described the strike as “one of the finest intelligence operations in the world” and said Hezbollah was “hours away” from launching the coup. Other users, including have repeated claims that “Israel saved Lebanon from a Hezbollah coup” or “prevented a takeover just before zero hour.”
While these posts have gone viral in pro-Israel circles, the IDF, and Lebanese officials have not confirmed any specific, imminent coup plot. There is no public evidence linking yesterday’s strikes directly to foiling a government takeover.
Hezbollah officials have made public threats in recent weeks to destabilize or “topple” the Lebanese government after the war, comparing it to the 2008 clashes, but there is no verified link between those general statements and the timing of the April 8 strikes.
Netanyahu is expected to address the public again soon, though no new press conference has been officially confirmed for tonight at the time of this report.

It certainly would explain the very muted response from Lebanon.
I would like Marco Rubio to be the mouthpiece of what is going on. He comes across cool calm collected and covers every base. Trump does too but he rambles into tangents. MR follows the basics of giving a speech......tell them what you are going to tell the audience, tell them, then conclude by reminding them of what you just told them.
Folks need to remember, we are dealing with wacko’s who practice a form of religion which validates them lying to non-believers.
Reports claim Hezbollah coup attempt, against the Lebanese state, was thwarted
I posted a comment also, because just like you I wonder what to think about this story. I had hoped to hear something from Israeli Freepers, but so far nothing.
However, I think recent developments have shown that something very important has happened in Lebanon. The Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, and the Israelis will start talks - without Israel stopping its military actions.
That the Lebanese President dares to sit down with the Israelis, and without having received any initial commitments is unheard of. Hezbollah must be very weakened, and possibly the President Aoun very happy about the fact that a coup was inhibited by the Israeli action. But so far we don't know for certain about the latter.
Jews are God’s chosen people.
That is a race, not a religion.
That means all over the world
God watches over you if you
are a descendant of Jews.
That doesn’t mean others are
ignored, Jesus fixed that.
Just show faith in him, just a
little bit.
Faith is one of the hardest
things for a human being to
do.
The IRGC created Hezbollah in Lebanon and has been funding it for decades!
“I had hoped to hear something from Israeli Freepers,”
The only Israeli Freeper I know about is Jewbacca, and he’s an IAF pilot, so I would assume he’s either very, very busy or sleeping.
His post have become increasingly sparse.
I don’t think neither the US nor Israel are particularly interested in what the UK government says. Starmer has made Britain irrelevant.
The other stories (related to this) were:
1. The speaker of the house (or whatever they call it) in Lebanon was busted getting $500,000/month payola from Isan.
2. Lebanon started arresting Hezbollah members for various things.
3. Lebanon passed a law demanding Hezbollah disarm.
4. Israel has systematically destroyed Hezbollah’s money-making enterprises (gas stations, a refinery, drugs)
So the theory fits pretty cleanly.
Thanks! If that’s the case I do understand he is not posting. I wish him all the best and good hunting!
Perfectly timed with a “ceasefire” so in theory they can do this without being bombed by Israel...
Coupled with how butthurt iran is over it, I suggest this has some truth to it.
I believe Uncle Miltie is Israeli as well, but I may have that wrong.
“Calm Down”: Trump Pushed Netanyahu to Scale Back Beirut Strikes

Internal reports reveal that President Trump personally called Prime Minister Netanyahu to request a reduction in strikes on Lebanon to protect the success of upcoming US peace talks with Iran.
While the public narrative has focused on military dominance, a different story has been unfolding behind the scenes in Washington and Jerusalem. President Donald Trump reportedly reached out to Prime Minister Netanyahu in a direct phone call, asking him to “calm down” the strikes in Lebanon.
This request was driven by a growing realization within the White House that the continued destruction of Beirut could jeopardize the high stakes peace negotiations with Iran scheduled for Saturday in Islamabad. Although the Trump administration maintains that Lebanon is not formally part of the Iran ceasefire, officials became concerned that the humanitarian and political costs of the war were becoming a liability for the President’s regional strategy.
The Diplomatic Pivot
Initially, the Trump administration gave Israel a relatively free hand in the north, with Vice President J.D. Vance and others clarifying that Hezbollah was not covered by the Iran truce. However, as the IDF continued to level the Dahiyeh district and the death toll rose, the political calculus changed.
Trump’s inner circle feared that the images of destruction would not only derail the Islamabad summit but also cause domestic political damage within the United States. In response to the President’s direct pressure, Netanyahu’s tone shifted almost instantly, leading to the dramatic announcement of a new diplomatic track with the Lebanese government.
As a result, the upcoming talks in Washington between Ambassador Yehiel Leiter and Lebanese representatives will be watched closely as a test of whether this American pressured restraint can lead to a breakthrough.
I was told personally in an interview I conducted once for a magazine that the primary meaning of Chosen People is chosen by God to receive the Torah to give to mankind. Not superiority or specialness or favoritism for Jews.
It would be nice if they could make Lebanon Christian again.
“I was told personally in an interview I conducted once for a magazine that the primary meaning of Chosen People is chosen by God to receive the Torah to give to mankind. Not superiority or specialness or favoritism for Jews.”
Or you can just read the Torah/Bible:
Deuteronomy 7:6-8
“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession. The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were better than other peoples, for you were the least of all peoples. But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.”
This directly states that the Israelites (referred to as the Jewish people in later tradition) are God’s chosen/holy/treasured people, but explicitly not because they were better, rather than they were the least, and through them He would demonstrate His power and everlasting love.
“It would be nice if they could make Lebanon Christian again.”
It would, I agree.
The Christian population peaked in the 1930s and then the Nazis came around and propped up the Shia against the Jews/British, and it was downhill ever since.
