Proposed homeschooling regulations and changes to vaccine policies bring thousands to Connecticut Capitol

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Two hot-button political issues converged Wednesday in the state capitol, drawing a crowd well over 1,000 parents and children opposed to proposed regulations on homeschooling and changes to Connecticut’s vaccine policies.

The day began with a scathing press conference staged by the General Assembly’s Republican caucuses. GOP legislators took particular issue with the fact that Democratic members of the Public Health Committee voted to cap public testimony at midnight on Wednesday.

“No elected official that casted a vote today to silence your voices deserves to be re-elected to office again,” State Sen. Steve Harding, the leader of the Republican minority in the State Senate, said.

The left wants every boy to grow up seeing tampons in the boys rooms in schools.

The goal is total brainwashing and destruction of young male morale.

The way to fix this is simple, unfortunately democrat voters aren’t smart enough to vote for a conservative republican.

And being northerners doesn’t help.

The Democrat position is that parents raising children in their own faith (the old normal) is child abuse, and that their political operatives (public school teachers) must get first crack at them.

That's also what's behind the push for government childcare and compulsory pre-school.

They really, really, REALLY hate homeschoolers. Which is bizarre because many homeschoolers fall distinctly into the political Left category. A minority, granted, but still not a small number.

This kind of stuff really brings out the command and control aspects of the Left for all to see. They despise the idea that some child somewhere is not being force-fed their propaganda.

“How I loathe the left”

I do too. There is never going to be any reunification in this country. The left need to be defeated and suppressed so they never take power again.

Saud got his MD degree from Aga Kahn University.

Why do these foreigners all want to become politicians or judges? Because they want to control how WE live!

You spoke the unpopular about home schoolers on the left, bravo.

“because many homeschoolers fall distinctly into the political Left category”

That they do. Home schooling has a distinct popularity among a left wing demographic. There is not some unanimity in regard to home schoolers that all of them are Constitutional Conservatives. This is not what is happening.

In fact, many homeschoolers who are “on the right” (however you define that) are in a staunch refusal to teach their children the goodness of the Founding Fathers, the goodness of our individual rights, that our rights are a gift from God.

All they want to do is “simple” arithmetic, reading, writing, science, and the skimpiest basics on history. Basically, they want to teach things that are ordinary, uninteresting, and won’t cause any controversy at all and do not, do not, help prepare these kids for the realities we face. They leave their children open to be propagandized all the same as if, why did you bother to home school in the first place? And then they send their kids off to a communist university. Its very confusing to be honest. Why did you waste 10 years of your life for this? The sad fact is that a notable percentage of home schoolers are,

In a word,

Useless.

They aren’t helping us save the country when their final act is to pay $80,000 dollars to have a university turn their kid into a pinko Bernie Sanders pod person. I remain deeply supportive of homeschoolers however I can’t let go of my inner realist who reminds me of the realities of the situation.

The effing liars of the left CHERRY PICK 2 isolated cases to make their demands appear to be “for the children”.

These barely and questionably elected people have no rights over your body, your children, or your children’s bodies.

Once you give in it’s over.

Eff every one of these power-mad SOB sacks of shit.

Agreed. Now, let's look at the notable percentages of public schoolers, private schoolers, Catholic schoolers, etc. who fall into the same category of "useless" for the same reasons.

That "useless" percentage is much, much, much lower among homeschoolers.

Do some go off the reservation? Of course. But the majority of them end up being independent thinkers who are problematic for the Left even when they agree with most of what the Left preaches.

Correct. It's amazing to me that anyone votes for these people. Most of them have no love for this country and want to turn us into a new caliphate.

Yep. And those two cases, like most others, involved children who were in school.

The 11yo girl was in school through fifth grade, and she is suspected to have died either the summer before sixth grade or the fall when sixth grade started, which means the mother filled out paperwork to remove her from school when this young girl was already dead or dying. It's a horrible case about a school student who was never homeschooled.

The 32yo man held captive in his home for 20 years is seeking to sue the state because DCF failed to help him when he was a child. When he was in fourth grade, the school reported his parents. DCF visited his home twice before the parents pulled him from school.

Yeah, they are independent thinkers.

But independently thinking about what?

Since their parents did not give them hardly anything about individual liberties, the goodness of the founders, or the founding, or the constitution, this is where the problem lies. It then has these children then turned adults left on their own to “get lucky” and find out about the Founders on their own. Is America Good? well I don’t know it was not a part of my home school curriculua I guess I gotta go take time out of my now busy day cause I’m a grown up now and I got a job to go read how many books? And figure this out.

See what I mean.

It’s almost not fair. What they have done to their children is almost not fair. If you’re going to home school your kids, why the heck are you omitting such important things as our individual liberties? I mean I can see why the left wing home schoolers don’t teach the goodness of the Founding but what’s every body else’s excuse? I see no excuses. It’s a straight up massive failure.

There should be 100 or more Hillsdale’s’s colleges around the U.S. because Americans are hungry for what is good and what is beautiful.

America currently cannot support any more than 1 Hillsdale College. We are all culpable and on the hook for this failure.

All of us.

And one last aside, since I’m only beginning to understand what books are being used as curricula for the kind of more conservative home schooler, there is more that I need to learn. However, I have not seen 1 - not 1. Book devoted exclusively toward a proper teaching of early American culture, the American Revolution, and what made America great.

It’s absent. Absent. Absent. Absent. It’s so heart breaking. The Founding Fathers are just absent, ignored, piled on and covered up. It’s just so heart breaking. The Founders did not and do not deserve this.

We gotta fix this and there’s just no other place......... It has to start with the home schoolers.

I think you're a little behind the curve. Check out:

Ave Maria University
Christendom College
University of Mary
Franciscan University of Steubenville
Thomas Aquinas College
University of Dallas
Wyoming Catholic College
Thomas More College

And all the rest on the Cardinal Newman Society list.

These are all schools where American kids are not going to be turned into Leftist drones.

And all of them are chock full of homeschoolers.

And that's just the Catholic schools. There are plenty of private Christian and Bible colleges out there, too.

As for teaching kids history, we started with this: The Story of Civilization, Volume 4: The History of the United States.

From there, I built out in-depth studies on various aspects of US history: from the campaigns of the Revolutionary War, to visiting Independence Hall (which is right nearby us) and the Museum of the American Revolution, to discussions about what the founders intended our government to be, versus what we have now, and much more.

We are far from unique among homeschoolers. You're selling these folks short!
