Schumer Melts Down Over Trump Voter Crackdown Push — Hints At Next Democrat Move
The Daily Wire ^ | March 8, 2026 | Virginia Kruta

Posted on 03/10/2026 5:36:19 AM PDT by Twotone

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) doubled down on his party’s opposition to President Donald Trump, vowing on Sunday that Democrats in the U.S. Senate would never “help” Republicans to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.

Despite the fact that the bill’s main focus — requiring valid proof of citizenship for voter registration — is popular among voters regardless of party, Schumer shared a post on X referring to the SAVE Act as “Jim Crow 2.0” and claiming that millions of people would be “disenfranchised” if it were to pass.

“The SAVE Act is Jim Crow 2.0. It would disenfranchise tens of millions of people,” Schumer complained. “If Trump is saying he won’t sign any bills until the SAVE Act is passed, then so be it: there will be total gridlock in the Senate. Senate Democrats will not help pass the SAVE Act under any circumstances.”

Schumer’s statement came just hours after Trump announced early Sunday that he intended to prioritize the SAVE Act — nicknamed by Republicans the SAVE America Act — and would not sign anything else until he saw it on his desk.

Praising calls for Senate Republicans to use the traditional — “talking” — filibuster to force a vote on the measure, Trump said that it had to be the top priority to “pass THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, an 88% issue with ALL VOTERS.”

“It must be done immediately. It supersedes everything else. MUST GO TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE,” he added. “I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed.”

In addition to requiring proof of citizenship — either through a valid passport or a birth certificate — the SAVE Act would dramatically limit online and mail-in voter registration and would reduce mail-in balloting to military service-members or those limited by illness, disability, or travel. States would also be required to routinely examine voter rolls in order to ensure that non-citizens were not being registered to vote. Criminal penalties would apply to any officials who registered voters with improper identification.

Despite the fact that a majority of Americans support voter ID requirements generally (81%) and the SAVE America Act specifically (71%), according to a Harvard Harris poll taken just after Trump’s State of the Union address, elected Democrats like Schumer have continued to insist that requiring proof of citizenship would necessarily disenfranchise voters who cannot access the proper documents.

The SAVE Act passed the House in February.

I bet Schumer cannot produce ONE PERSON of the “millions” of people who will be disenfranchised.

It’s true. A lot of dead people will be disenfranchised.

“I bet Schumer cannot produce ONE PERSON of the “millions” of people who will be disenfranchised.”

There are millions who will be disenfranchised, tens of millions, however, they’re not citizens.

How many of today’s voters even know what the “Jim Crow Act” actually did to minority voters? I bet it is well under 10 percent. Schumer is just a babbling fool. Ignore him.

Various proofs of citizenship are acceptable. In my case, I’ll use my birth certificate. In my wife’s case, she will use her birth certificate and marriage certificate. The left claims that millions of women will be disenfranchised.

I will grant that not all married women who have changed their name have their marriage certificate attesting to the legal name change. Of course, all they have to do is request it. Along with all of life’s other challenges, it may seem like a hassle. But it’s not that hard and it is worth it to have secure elections.

Chuckie has been in government office since 1975. He has never held a job in the private sector. He is a career parasite and truly a pile of human garbage.

Proof of citizenship only when registering. Should have always been that way. Photo ID when voting...It’s called Driver’s license. And that kinda takes care of the mail in ballots.

I have two Democrat representatives in the US Senate. I wrote both of them when the SAVE Act was first introduced in that chamber. What I wrote was this: the Democrats can assist those voters who would be allegedly disenfranchised by encouraging a NGO to provide assistance to voters to obtain the proper documents to prove citizenship.

Crickets. Democrats don't care about the voters. They care about inflated voter registration with ineligible people.

Every illegal or fraudulent vote that is cast dilutes the vote of an American citizen. Legal American voters are who are being disenfranchised.

Idiot.

Election fraud disenfranchises legitimate, American citizen voters.

As long as Trump is afraid of government shutdowns and keeps taking responsibility for them he can’t move the Senate. The way to deal with these thugs is to veto any government funding bill that isn’t balanced or that doesn’t have this attached to it. When food stamps don’t get paid out then their constituents are impacted and that is their pressure point. Trump had them all there but he wanted the government open as much as anyone. If he can find the level of strength on the domestic front as he has on the foreign front progress can be made but as it is he plays footsies with the Senate.

Evil is the ultimate stupidity, and the Democrat Party has always pushed it to the non plus ultra.

Democrats were stupid to champion slavery, the ku klux klan, the Trail of Tears, infanticide, open borders, et al., but when they came out as the champions of election fraud it was way beyond stupid.

Only a scoundrel or a moron would support the Democrat Party. Obviously there are plenty of them out there running around loose.

What pathetic criminals. Anyone in congress who thinks you can “disenfranchise” an illegal alien (who is an invading CRIMINAL) is so full of it that they are overflowing with ignorance and criminality.

Schemer believes that black people are too stupid or too lazy to get a photo ID card, and knows that the SAVE Act will end the Rat Party forever.

Did Schumer say what people are too stupid to get IDs? Is it black people or married women today?
