I broke the FR rule, and actually read the whole article...

They never explicitly say whether the remains found are are recent or ancient. they hint that they are due to cartel violence, but they don’t say it outright.

Like post #7 above alludes: It could very well be mass graves from ancient events there.

I’m not saying it is so, but until I hear a report from the local Medical Examiner, or an investigating anthropologist, I’m not going to get too excited about it.

I wasn't saying through the posted picture that the bodies were ancient. I was saying the remains in sacks (strongly indicating modern) are Mexican cartels keeping the old bloodthirsty traditions going in this day and age - but strictly to instill mass terror rather than appease supernatural entities.
