Look at your statement and Bovinos, side by side:

You: POSSIBLY he was reaching for something in the melee
So, you are correct about that possibility. In part of the melee, you can see there is nothing in his hands, but there's about 9 seconds where you can't see his hands as others are in the way.
But your scenario, while possible, completely contradicts Bovino's statement. His statement implies the scuffle occurred because he was armed, but that wasn't the case as you can see in the vids coming out.
