Brief summary of the video: The YouTube video (from WCCO - CBS Minnesota, uploaded January 24, 2026) is a ~7-minute clip of a press conference by U.S. Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino. He discusses a fatal shooting that morning in south Minneapolis during a targeted DHS operation involving Border Patrol agents.
Key points from Bovino's statements: The suspect was identified as Jose Werta Chuma (described as an undocumented immigrant with prior criminal history including domestic assault and disorderly conduct). During the operation, the man allegedly approached agents armed with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and extra loaded magazines. Agents attempted to disarm him, but he resisted; an agent fired in self-defense, fearing for their lives and others' safety. The suspect received immediate aid but died at the scene. Bovino characterized the incident as an attempt to "do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement." Later, ~200 rioters reportedly arrived, assaulted officers, and obstructed operations, leading to crowd control measures. He defended the involved agent's training and criticized local officials (e.g., Mayor Fry and Chief O'Hara) for allegedly omitting key details like the suspect's gun. He framed it within broader attacks on federal law enforcement and called for cooperation against violent criminals.

No, pretty much just that is why ppl don’t like you.
Lots of contrarians here and they don’t get that dislike.
He is dead because he did something stupid on multiple levels.
He carried and attempted to interfere with LEO’s.
He attempted to interfere with LEO removing threats to society. Another stupid move.
It wasnt just imprudent (the lack of being practically wise), it was foolish, illegal, and life threatening. To try to make it appear otherwise is a logical fault of your own.
The men he confronted are Americans, likely with their own families, and put their life on the line so you may live life safe and secure.
It is very disappointing to see unworthy, backseat pre-judgmental, mentally ill and brainwashed posters on this forum, or living in this country, enjoying the fruits of their betters, and actually fighting against them. Pathetic.
It was imprudent. I don’t fight against law enforcement. None of this changes the fact that he was lawfully carrying. His actions to interfere with law enforcement are a separate question.
Negative. If you don’t its part of the definition of a sociopath.
Been diagnoised?
As soon as he committed the first (of several) felonies he ceased to be carrying lawfully and committed another felony by being in possession.
His conduct of interfering, rather than his carrying itself, is what made his carrying become unlawful, is that correct?
Heard he was not carrying his ID. if true, you’re wrong.
In any event, that wasnt my point and I never said it was. I could care less if he was legally carrying. That is relevant is the fact he came armed, confronted LEO, struggled, and died.
IN A FRIGGIN STATE WHERE THEY WOULD HAVE JUST RELEASED HIM THE SAME DAY. How STUPID is that?
You seriously cant think through this BS? I’m amazed you survived to adulthood.
You were busy "liking" Rob Reiner's HateTrump posts on Twitter.
How did that work out for you and Rob, EternalVaginance? 😂😂😂
So it isn’t his carrying, but his interfering conduct, that was unlawful.
The other people recorded him walking into the middle of the street and down the road towards the operation zone. He had his phone out as if he wanted to get a better video than the other people on the sidewalk could get.
He put everything in motion the moment he stepped off of the sidewalk.

That was his first infraction and it is a Federal felony.
It has also been said that he had no ID on him and it is illegal to carry without ID even if you have a CCW permit. I don’t know if that is a felony, probably not, but it means you are not carrying legally.
Still, I think it was a bad call on his part if he wasn't in compliance with local laws.
I don’t agree with that either but it is the law. If you don’t like it get the law changed or successfully challenge it in the courts. THAT is the rule of law in our Republic.
And there are no protections for committing felony crimes while in possession of a firearm or other weapon. I don’t think those gun laws are unConstitutional.
Carrying doesn’t immunize you against the rest of the law. I think we agree on that.
Carrying is an additional crime if you’re committing another serious crime. Can you agree with that?
Yes.
OK. Thank you. FWIW I was not demanding that you agree with me I just wanted clarity on your view.
Nor was I asking if it is Constitutional just asking if it is the law but I think you’ve got that and clarified it.
Have a good rest of the night, aposiopetic.
Thanks, TigersEye. It is helpful to clarify what’s really going on here. Have a great rest of your weekend as well.

He’s not the one who bit his finger off. There are two other people arrested for that. Not even the same ICE officer.
