Thousands of nurses in three hospital systems in New York City went on strike Monday after negotiations through the weekend failed to yield breakthroughs in their contract disputes.
The strike was taking place at The Mount Sinai Hospital and two of its satellite campuses, with picket lines forming. The other affected hospitals are NewYork-Presbyterian and Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.
About 15,000 nurses are involved in the strike, according to the New York State Nurses Association ---SNIP---

Time for the Mamdani payoff, to pay for those Union votes with tax dollars.
Just like the other Commie DeBlasio did.
Just like the other DRat Dinkins did.
Every Dem does the same thing, every time.
And everybody knows it.
Mamdani care. (death)
I’m originally from NY City area.
I can’t understand at all why anyone wants to live there now.
So funny. How’s all this going to affect “affordability”?!
Good to have comic relief and schadenfreude all wrapped up in one dysfunctional city.
Strike Nursing is HUGE business! US Nursing makes a fortune off of nursing strikes!
“NYSNA’s leaders continue to double down on their $3.6 billion in reckless demands, including nearly 40% wage increases, and their troubling proposals like demanding that a nurse not be terminated if found to be compromised by drugs or alcohol while on the job,”
Em… when I worked as a nurse at Mt Sinai we were making $18k per year living like roaches. I left. The $18k I made in flyover country went more than twice as far
Rents on Long Island, housing prices are maybe 15 x more than they were then and the salary is 10 times higher.
These nurses are not getting a 30% raise.
They will not be allowed to be impaired on the job- heck that’s in the nursing licensure decree
And common sense
Nursing is a good career if you’re good at it. It is also good for job security. It could be a good second income, but terrible way to raise kids. They’re waiting outside of school while you’re late picking them up doing CPR on a patient
But look at the writing on the wall. It is no way to sustain a lifestyle in NYC
The Unions and the government are the wolves deciding on how many sheep to have for dinner. Nobody represents the dheep.
“I can’t understand at all why anyone wants to live there now.”
I love NY and NYC. Third/fourth generation
I love to visit
Am so unhappy about what’s going on there now. You could see it from at least 1972
I got out a long time ago
How much do NYNSA leaders make a year I should wonder. And how much will their salaries go up?
More police protection for Nurses!
My fondest memories of NYC are of pizza by the slice.
I had a ball when I lived in Kew Gardens.
Of course, that was back before the turn of the century.
How many of those nurses received FAKE DIPLOMAS?
Perfect timing. Commie mayor, they’ll get what they want.
Is this part of Mamdani’s free medical care?
“Some sources are saying the union want a 30% per year over three years raise, which would raise average nurse salaries from “around” $110,000 to $272,000”
You know the Doctors are watching closely and licking their chops.
The should throw in free bus and subway rides
These are private dollars at private hospitals in NYC. A 90% raise over 3 years is insane. It would be cheaper to replace nurses with AI and robots in the long run.
How many will have a failing condition or even die during this strike due to substandard care?
“Am so unhappy about what’s going on there now. You could see it from at least 1972”
Can you imagine Archie Bunker’s take on the situation LOL!
