Embattled Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan, who was convicted of obstruction last month for helping an immigrant evade federal officers, has sent her resignation letter to the governor.
The letter was sent Saturday. Republicans had been making plans to impeach her ever since her Dec. 19 conviction.
Dugan wrote that over the past decade she handled thousands of cases with “a commitment to treat all persons with dignity and respect, to act justly, deliberately and consistently, and to maintain a courtroom with the decorum and safety the public deserves.”
But she said the case against her is too big of a distraction.
“As you know, I am the subject of unprecedented federal legal proceedings, which are far from concluded but which present immense and complex challenges that threaten the independence of our judiciary. I am pursuing this fight for myself and for our independent judiciary,” Dugan said in her letter.
Last April, federal prosecutors accused Dugan of distracting federal officers trying to arrest a Mexican immigrant outside her courtroom and leading the man out through a private door. A federal jury convicted her of felony obstruction.
The case against Dugan was highlighted by President Donald Trump as he pressed ahead with his sweeping immigration crackdown. Democrats insisted the administration was trying to make an example of Dugan to blunt judicial opposition to the operation.
Republican Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos praised Dugan’s decision.
“I’m glad Dugan did the right thing by resigning and followed the clear direction from the Wisconsin Constitution,” Vos said.
Democrat Ann Jacobs, who leads the Wisconsin Elections Commission, said she agreed with Dugan that Milwaukee should have a permanent judge in place while this fight plays out.
“Despite her situation, she is ever the champion of justice, wanting to remove the...

A good start!
When does she go to prison?
Being convicted of a felony and wanting to remain an active judge. Yeah, that’s too much of a distraction.
Well, there’s at least four things she doesn’t have:
Shame
Integrity
Morals
The right to vote (for now)
Sadly, she probably thinks it was worth it . . .
How about they stop threatening impeachment and actually DO IT? I’m sick and damn tired of all the talking with no results.
Maybe she can start up a Road Kill Taco and Burrito Gut Truck with her illegal alien hero. Adios Granny!
It is all about her feelings.
Trouble is Gov. Evers gets to appoint the next one.
Who I predict will be no better
“How about they stop threatening impeachment and actually DO IT? I’m sick and damn tired of all the talking with no results.”
It’s interesting that some here will criticize those of us who complain about the lack of legal results. “Justice takes time” they say. I have noticed elsewhere on the internet a lot of complaining, including memes, regarding the lack of arrests and people going to jail. This is a smell that’s sticking to Republicans tightly. If it continues, Dems will control the House in 2027 and we’ll see if they think “justice takes time”.
She’s paying a very steep price for her criminal behavior. Who cares about impeachment?
Take her home and lock that disgusting thing up for decades.
That makes two of us. Merryland is preparing to make The Abrego Kid The Guardian and Hero of Merryland for his Defeat of Trump, Blondie, the DOJ and ICE. The bastard is even a Hero of El Salvador and MS-13. MS-13 has dropped their hit on him due to his bravery and defeat of the United States. He has everybody scared **itless. The Merryland William Wallace.
“...Well, there’s at least four things she doesn’t have:...”
ALL of em “resume enhancers” for a communist RAT democrat.
This beotch has a “D” after her name so she’s most likely immune to any real serious prosecution.
IF only we had a real bulldog of an AG instead of Jeff Sessions in Heels.....sad.
She did not treat ALL with respect. She didn’t interfere with arrest proceedings with EVERYONE.
What a muddled brained jinny *ss. Rot in jail. Traitor.
What a worthless investment that was to aid an illegal immigrant to escape out of the court house that day. This is what happens when you let emotions rule your actions. Couple leftist ideology with emotions and you have a train wreck. The former judge viewed her lawlessness to be superior to the laws of the land. What she wanted was judicial superiority. She wanted her interpretation of existing law to be null and void because of her emotional ties to the daily talking points of MSDNC, CBDNCS, DNCNN etc. She let her emotions rule her actions. Now she is a convicted felon. The illegal is back in his own country! How ironic that she is now in a category that will be a forever stain on her legacy. For what? She has plenty of time to think about it now. Knowing the system of today she probably is still eligible for her pension! We will see.
Ma’am, THIS is unprecedented…
On April 18, Flores-Ruiz appeared in the Milwaukee court for a scheduled immigration hearing. Six officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the FBI, and the Drug Enforcement Agency were in the courtroom to arrest him…According to an FBI affidavit, Dugan became “visibly angry” about the type of arrest warrant that had been issued and told the officers to report to the chief judge. While they were there, Dugan directed Flores-Ruiz and his lawyer to a private exit used by jurors.
jail
then she can move to mexico
to be with her boyfriend
In other words, threatens to reign in the a) lawlessness of corrupt judges and b) to only install judges that are actually competent.
The two-tiered system of justice has gone on too long. It's broken and pleads to be fixed.
Appears that she is still a member in good standing of the Wisconsin Bar

Hopefully her pension vanishes too. If not maybe the legislature can arrange it.
She’s not out of the woods yet as she still has to account for federal law title 8 u.s.c. 1324 which states:
8 U.S.C. § 1324 is a federal law that criminalizes various actions related to bringing in, transporting, and harboring unauthorized aliens (undocumented immigrants), including smuggling them across borders, concealing them, encouraging their unlawful entry, or aiding others in these activities, with penalties ranging from fines and imprisonment to life sentences in severe cases, making it a serious offense under U.S. immigration law.
Alien Smuggling — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(i) makes it an offense for any person who — knowing that a person is an alien, to bring to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien.
The basic statutory maximum penalty for violating 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(i) and (v)(I) (alien smuggling and conspiracy) is a fine under title 18, imprisonment for not more than 10 years, or both.
The incident involved a plan by the defense attorney and a court officer to have the defendant, Jose Medina-Perez, leave through a rear, non-public sally-port door while an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent waited in the public lobby. As more than just the judge was involved, there should be more arrest and ultimately fines, sentences, or both to the others.
And since she has openly admitted to committing the crime, she should be disbarred from her law license and lose the ability to get another one.
