Seems like bad procedures by the cleaning service not to knock even if they thought it was an empty house. Service was also presumably hiring illegal aliens and not training them properly.
Also, reasonable to arm himself, but homeowner should call 911 before shooting. You can't legally shoot someone for being at your front door.
Homeowner looks young for 62. Will probably be doing some time.
Definitely manslaughter given information presented I’d think.
Most certainly is manslaughter. I hope his lawyer reminds the courts that one- time president ‘Joseph robinette Biden” recommended it.
I live on a property with one of these kinds of guys. He practically dreams of a home invasion. It’s all he can talk about.
IMHO,
I don’t see where the home owner can argue he felt in danger or threatened.
I believe whole heatedly in ones RIGHT to self defense and to use lethal force if necessary.
But you need to be able to reasonably argue it was self defense, that there could have been a threat. That’s like the basic idea behind it all - “self defense.” Without that, you’re just someone looking for an excuse to blow someone away.
When Anderson was questioned by police, he said very little, the district attorney said he was Curt.
When confronted with lethal danger I will flee if safely possible. I prefer to flee than kill. If I can not flee safely, I will kill you legally in Texas.
I have been shooting since a youth and never used a firearm in an illegal manner and will not. I am always armed where it is legal. It is wise that Texas will not allow arms in bars.
I will not kill some stupid kid robbing something outside my house at night though Texas gives me this right. Hopefully I could just retain him for the cops. I will not kill him. I remember my stupidity as a youth. Break down my door and you will probably die dependent on the skill of surgeons at the hospital. I am triple tap.
Your husband?
I'm boycotting him.
Regards,

But a GREAT WAY to find out who’s home and who is not home.
Bad shoot—shooting through a closed door is a bad plan.
If I were gay? Not sure he’s a terrible cook.
Anyway I’ve bumped into many people who have gained their defense knowledge in bad ways. There is no law, anywhere in the world, that legally allows you to kill someone.
My town had a very recent case that tested this. I’m Bentonville Arkansas a few weeks ago a man shot and killed a man during a road rage incident. The shooter did an exemplary job, both in accuracy, environmental awareness and follow-up. It was a good test case.
Google it, it made national headlines and opened up a discussion that includes what I call “the redneck factor” of an attacker quick to jump to violence (pseudo violence and threats in this case) with his trashy girlfriend egging him on against “one-a-dem bougie Yankees” only to see him shot and killed.
The test case here is that the shooter fired from the car. His lawyer will have challenges in front of that judge and jury with that one. The shooter had no obligation to flee, but that type of firing execution allows a lot of debate from the jury.
The shooter did everything well in the follow up. Cooperation, laying the firearm down, hands up and first to talk to police. He went home that day but his pistol was still confiscated for evidence. He could go home and get another pistol though because he could.
He still has a court date though. He’s not free and clear. This is going to cost.
