Lacey police have arrested a suspect in connection with the double murder and drive-by shooting that claimed the lives of two teenagers last week.
Trequanne Trenelle Wilson-Mason, a 20-year-old from Lacey, was arrested in relation to the Nov. 14 deaths of 16-year-old Alexander Borgen and 17-year-old Deven Borgen.
According to court records, the fatal shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity.
"My son Deven had all A’s in school, he went to church," Christina Borgen, the boys' mother said in court Wednesday. "My son Alex had changed his life, had all A’s, was doing good."
"A good kid, helpful kid, would help anybody, and we loved him," Kenneth Borgen said of his grandson Deven.
According to Lacey Police Department Sgt. Det. Knight, dispatchers received 911 calls around 1:50 a.m. after gunshots were heard just south of Mountain View Elementary School on College Street Southeast.
Officers arrived at the intersection near 24th Ave SE, where the two teenage boys, later confirmed to be brothers, were found dead in the street. Investigators said the incident was a drive-by shooting.
Through surveillance video in the area investigators tracked the suspect vehicle to a home just down the street, and learned Wilson-Mason had a previous arrest tied to that address.
Cell phone records also place Wilson-Mason in the area when the fatal shooting happened, and a witness told police Wilson-Mason admitted to being the shooter.
Records show Wilson-Mason is already facing charges from a previous domestic violence case in February involving harassment and assault.
Authorities tracked Wilson-Mason from Lacey to a hotel in Wenatchee, Wash., where he was apprehended with the assistance of local law enforcement.
"I want to hear why, why would he even do something like that to innocent kids? These kids were 16 and 17. He's 20-years-old," Kenneth Borgen told KOMO News. "Why wasn’t he locked up before, why did they let somebody like that loose? He was violent, they knew that before."
During an interview with police, Wilson-Mason said he intended to shoot Alex Borgen "because he mistakenly identified him as a person the accused of shooting up his house in October of 2024."
But when Mason-Wilson later learned the identities of two he shot and killed, he “became emotional after realizing he shot the wrong people,” according to court documents.
"You killed two innocent boys, I hope you sleep at night with that," Christina Borgen said in court.
As of Wednesday, Wilson-Mason is being held without bail at the Thurston County Jail for two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of drive-by shooting. He is also detained on a no-bail felony warrant for violating a court order from his previous February 2025 felony domestic violence case in Lacey.
Wilson-Mason is due back in court on November 25 for an arraignment where he's expected to enter a plea.

Statistics from the FBI via Grok:
“what are the comparative odds of interracial murder of blacks murdering whites or whites murdering blacks?”
A2: “The odds of a Black person committing a homicide against a White person are about 12.6 times higher than the odds of a White person committing one against a Black person.”
Ping!
Another day, another …
Just reading my local TV News station, and waddaya know?!
Spot on today’s topic.
Just a guess but the jurisdiction all this took place in is solid blue. Lacey is in the state of Washington.
Nothing to see here... just more white people dead at the hands of a black. I am so fatigued. Imagine the headlines if the races were reversed.
That poor mother. I can’t imagine her grief.
Lacey is Thurston County where, unlike King or Pierce Counties, they tend to enforce the law according to my conservative brother-in-law who lives and works there for the State.
King = Seattle
Pierce = Tacoma
I understand you get local variance in law and order but this case sure didn’t turn out well.
It’s THEM again, Yogi.
I wonder what the teens were doing out near 2am?
Thought the same thing. Nothing good happens after midnight.
I live in Thurston County. The police, especially Lacey, Tumwater and the Sheriff's Dept. enforce laws as far as the liberal state laws allow. So your B.I.L. is correct.
The problem is the courts. So many of the County superior court judges who hear cases that involve juveniles were appointed by lefty Governor Jay Inslee when bench vacancies happened. They then ran for election when the appointment expired.....unopposed.
Why were the boys out at 2am?
Charging documents state they were at one of the boy’s girlfriends house and were walking home. For them, there was no school the next day.
” he “became emotional after realizing he shot the wrong people,” “
Likely as not he was upset that he didn’t kill his intended target.
In either case, hang Trequanne Trenelle, ASAP.
oh just stick it..
There are about eight times as many Blacks as Whites in the U.S., so - assuming total randomness - the odds should be eight to one. A probability of 12.6 to one is about 50% higher than we would expect. That they are, in actual fact, 12.6 to one suggests that Blacks are a) either 50% more (racially*) motivated to seek out White victims, specifically, or b) Whites are 50% less (racially*) motivated to seek out Black victims (highly unlikely, but I'm listing it for the sake of completeness).
Since it is false to assume total randomness - after all, Blacks and Whites are not uniformly dispersed and mixed throughout the country; rather, each group tends to live mostly amongst their own kind, and esp. associates mostly with friends, family, etc. of their own race, the observed rate suggests that Blacks are even more (racially) motivated to seek out White victims.
* Racial preferences in targeting victims could be due to 1) simple race hatred, or 2) the perception that individuals belonging to the targeted race make better victims (e.g., carry more valuable belongings with them, if the murder is also a robbery).
Any dissenting opinions here?
Regards,

Typo I figure 😜
