This guy is incredibly incompetent. He is the head of security and failed to ensure that the roofs were clear less than a year after the Trump assassination attempt? What a joke.
For just $299, you can purchase a drone that can stream 4k video in real time for up to 10 kilometers. A security team protecting someone who poses a genuine threat to them should not be using a drone. That’s in addition to to the human check they should be doing.

I’ve shot deer with an -06, and heard the shot, and then impact with bone. Seems to me this guy would have heard the impact from the hit before he heard glthe shot.

I’ve read somewhere in the coverage that Charlie was offered plexiglass screens, but refused them. If you have watched his events, he asks people to come right up to him and debate. A screen would have badly ruined the interaction he was seeking, in which he answered people with facts, but also with respect and encouragement to seek a deeper truth. The human contact was necessary to his art.
It’s why the rooftop security and any kind of metal detection set up really, really should have been attended to.
They were not legally allowed to fly the drone, which they had brought with them. They were assured by the chief of police that their drone would be used for the event. That never happened.

He refused protective glass since he wanted to be with the kids. His security people wanted it.
If you are in charge of security, you can’t just let someone say they will take care of it, trust that will happen, and not check on it.
If the police say they are going to use their drone, then you have the guy who was going to fly your drone go sit with the police and watch it. Obviously, it is a life and death decision.
