Trump says he has 'obligation' to sue BBC over speech edit
BBC ^ | November 12 | BBC

US President Donald Trump has said he has an "obligation" to sue the BBC over the way a section of his speech was edited in a Panorama documentary.

Speaking to Fox News, he said his 6 January 2021 speech had been "butchered" and the way it was presented had "defrauded" viewers.

It is the first time Trump has spoken publicly about the matter since his lawyers wrote to the BBC and said he would sue for $1bn (£759m) in damages unless the corporation issues a retraction, apologises and compensates him.

A spokesperson for the BBC said: "We are reviewing the letter and will respond directly in due course."

BBC chair Samir Shah has previously apologised for an "error of judgement" over the edit.

Appearing on Fox News's The Ingraham Angle, the president was asked if he would go ahead with the lawsuit, responding "well I guess I have to, you know, why not, because they defrauded the public, and they've admitted it".

Trump continued: "They actually changed my January 6 speech, which was a beautiful speech, which was a very calming speech, and they made it sound radical.

"And they actually changed it. What they did was rather incredible."

Asked again if he would proceed with the legal action, he said: "Well I think I have an obligation to do it, because you can't get people, you can't allow people to do that."

If they can do it to Trump they can do it to anyone, and he can strike back like nobody else can.

The head of BBC, Deborah Turness, was formerly the head of MSNBC.

Yep, He sure is right.

You can’t keep let them get away with this crap all the time. Someone has to pay for the damages or they’ll keep doing it. If there’s no fear of consequences there’s no deterrence.

He needs to send a message to the mainstream media. Trump Derangement Syndrome can be fatal to your organization.

Interestingly, it’s not just Pres. Trump the Beeb has it in for...

A long tweet from yesterday, so I’ll just post an excerpt and the link. The Beeb kept referring to the Princess of Wales as Kate Middleton during her appearance at a Remembrance Day ceremony. The entire tweet is worth the read.

HRH Lady J 👑
@HRHLadyJ

Catherine, Princess of Wales Leads Armistice Day Service Amid BBC Naming “Errors”. But these were not mere “naming errors” not by a long stretch.

From the very start of the broadcast, Rajini Vaidyanathan
@BBCRajiniV repeatedly referred to Catherine, the Princess of Wales, as “Kate Middleton” while she was carrying out one of the most solemn and official duties in the royal calendar...

And, IIRC, the Beeb didn’t even show the entire event.

On Remembrance Day.

BTW, for an informative take on why the Bedb is is in hella hot water, try BlackBeltBarriater on YouTube...

Interestingly, YouTube isn’t providing a handy link for this particular video, so go to the BBB’s channel and call up the video entitled “Presidemt Trump vs the BBC; Who will Win”.

The vid’s about 17 minutes, delves into the legalities with regard to both countries. Well worth the watch.

And, if you watch the above, note the bit on the Beeb’s insurance, who that might figure into this. Oh, boy...

Not just a lawsuit, which should be a class action suit anyway since it affected everyone in the United States.

Stop all broadcasts in the U.S. - period. They're a foreign entity running a propaganda operation to foment unrest in the U.S.

Cancel all U.S. work visas for any BBC or subsidy's employees. Good riddance.

It’s one thing to have bias, to allow one voice to be heard more than the other. Or selectively take quotes out of context.

But for a JOURNALISM organization to FABRICATE A FORGERY, inflaming political positions, is NO DIFFERENT than calling “Fire!” in a theater.

IT IS CRIMINAL. Journalism is supposed to be truthful and be a check-and-balance on authority. For it to engage in such must be met with prison time.

It’s crap like this that leads to assassination attempts and Charlie Kirk. There MUST be a consequence when coming from “journalists”, they carry a responsibility and are abusing it, which harms the country. This is FAR WORSE than simple bias.
