New York's millionaires and billionaires fleeing the city over Zohran Mamdani's mayoral win are settling in an area of Florida they are turning into a mini Big Apple.
With the exception of the palm trees, West Palm Beach is looking a lot like New York these days. A stroll down its main drag offers up familiar-looking luxury high-rises built by New York developers, restaurants run by New York chefs, and many New Yorkers themselves, including Taylor Swift, who lived at a nearby mansion rented by Travis Kelce for the NFL offseason.

Nothing new actually.....been going on since taterhead stumbled into the WH.
Good luck, Floridians. Thanks for “absorbing” these New Yorkers and their overall attitudes.
We should only allow NYC deli and pizza shop owners.
There goes the neighborhood.
A lot longer than that. Two of my sisters lived in WPB for a while in the early 80s and said that most of the people there were from New York. I don't remember if they said the New Yorkers were permanent residents or seasonal, though.
Looks like the author is pretty ignorant and got to West Palm pretty late. Palm Beach County is and always has been a place where new Yorkers fled. The county is a Democrat stronghold.
To extremely prominent New Yorkers we know well are Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump both of whom fled to the island called Palm Beach
The question that comes to my mind is a Democrat strong hold also a progressive stronghold?
Southern Florida: Now you’ll be able to receive unsolicited advice on “how we did it back in NYC.” Enjoy.
Well on the bright side at least the ones I’ve seen are self sufficient, not the blood sucking leeches that seem endemic to demlomic cities and political registrations have been more republican then demholes.
It’s hard to believe that this is new. Those kind of people own several homes in different areas (or countries) for business purposes.
Kudos to the author for “discovering” a trend that has been going on for over half a century already.
“permanent residents or seasonal” I believe the terms are Yankees, and Damned Yankees.
Fla. had 6 Reps in 1940.
Sadly , these are NY Jews who would vote Rat party even if
the Muzzies Dems sent them to Camps .
They are irrational and vote Demonrat to the bitter end .
Pam Beach county is blue
thanks to them .
Desantis had to fire the Dem county election chief and clean there rolls.
NY voters are nightmare Demonrats .
lol
Pretty much .
A lot of ‘em have been seasonal but I suspect many will be full time residents now that nyc has now turned into “new mecca”
You would be correct sir 👍
Rush Limbaugh was a Missourian.
Actually, Rush moved from New York City to Palm Beach to avoid the onerous taxes. On his dying day, he was still subject to an annual audit by New York.
He had to pay taxes on his earnings in New York even when he visited the city for a few hours.
And BTW, I have been to the house where Rush grew up in Cape Giradu . You can visit the city and get a tour visiting all the Rush sites.
Florida has been absorbing New Yorkers ever since air conditioning was invented.
