On the menu today: It’s an off-year election, and Republicans lived up to it by having an off year. A really off year — read on.
We’re going to take yesterday’s elections in ascending order of importance, but first, the big picture.
We’ve all heard President Donald Trump offering his usual spiel — “I’m the greatest, I’m the most popular, everybody loves me,” etc. Well, as of this writing, the president’s job approval in the RealClearPolitics average is 43 percent. If you’re wondering about the range, CNN has it at 39 percent, Rasmussen Reports has it at 47 percent. On the economy, Trump’s job approval is at 41.4 percent in the RCP average.
Those are pretty lousy numbers, and they’re deadweight to any Republican candidate running right now.

But all is not doom and gloom. If the Fed finally gives us a significant rate reduction and Trump is more judicious with his tariffs (i.e target them for economic and not political reasons) this ship can be righted.
The 2020’s suuuuure are fun. 🙄
6/30/25: 267 days after the 2024 election, the Democratic Party’s public approval is at an all-time low. What if this isn’t just about frustration with Trump’s win or the GOP majorities in Congress; what if this is the Democratic base starting to doubt their party’s ability to deliver good results for their constituents?

Absolutely no tariffs for political reasons.
That is what the military is for! (s)
LMAO
Democrats won in Democrat states... why is this even news?
No, that is what diplomacy is for. You don't penalize the American consumer by increasing prices for political reasons
Are the Democrats trying to push us into a recession to take advantage of the misery they create?
Yeah I can’t believe Curtis didn’t become mayor of New York I thought he was guaranteed to win.
Just beat me to it. Absolutely a tempest in a teapot.
Umm you may want to check out the approval numbers. Trump is only at 41.7 % on the economy.
Jimbo here is a neverTrumper - blue states voted bluer, Tuesday was no bellwether but if that’s what they want to think, let them.
So-called Republicans (aka assistant DemocRATS) can’t wait for Trump to be gone.
Educated women are the forces to deal with. They’re like the OJ jury.
I remember a stuffed cougar being placed amongst a bunch of monkeys. This happened in Africa-watched it on TV. The monkeys freaked out and climbed up the nearest tree. They slowly came down from the trees when they didn’t see the stuffed animal moving. They began to throw rocks-payback.
So why do I bring this up? According to the narrator the most frenzied rock throwers were the females. Compare them to the society they’re living in now and how the guys have checked out. We’re going to have to come together like the rats do. Will it happen? You tell me.
Oil prices are down, Egg prices are down, Corn prices (which is animal feed)is going down. Me thinks a lot of big food business-who support Democrats-are keeping prices artificially high. We need another “trust buster” to go after the big food companies-especially the meat and egg producers.
Never, ever take advice from National Review.
Don’t even let them frame the problem.
See my #10 reply.
well good thing he wont be running again.
LMAO
In all seriousness, I don’t think Republicans, specifically, are the ones that should be worrying. I think it is America in general.
And, truth be told, I don’t think they need to worry either. The Lord really IS in control. And life is a mist.
Look at the RCP averages. NR ( and yeah I have issues with NR) is not alone reporting these numbers.
