Not only did the Democratic candidates sweep the state's three major races — governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general — the party also picked up 13 seats in the House of Delegates, giving them a hefty majority of 64-35, with one race remaining undecided.

The blue wave Dig deeper

This is a significant expansion of the Democrats' power in the state House, taking their previously slim 51-49 majority up.

I thought I escaped Blue State psychos in 2009 when I moved here after living in Blue my entire life. It was nice while in lasted in the Old Dominion. Now Virginia is part of the Axis of Woke with Massachusetts, Illinois, New York, and the West Coast. Hopefully I can make it until retirement and move someplace like Tennessee, South Carolina, or Florida. For me, there is no escaping the AWFLs.

While this all happened on the East Coast in lefty enclaves, it is indicative of a much larger problem.

Democrat/leftist voters are just fine with endorsing political violence. They will vote for whoever has the D by their name, and will crawl over broken glass to do it. They voted overwhelmingly for a candidate who wished his opponent’s children dead.

So, what’s the answer? The only way forward for us is to stop letting perfection being the enemy of good enough. Staying home and not voting because you only agree with about 60% of a R candidate isn’t going to do anything but get the D elected.

They Ds faced no consequences for their celebration of Charlie Kirk’s murder. They actually blamed it on the assassin being a Republican and got away with it. There was no consequence for the leftist who tried to kill ICE officials and ended up killing illegal immigrants.

The left is facing no consequences. They are emboldened. There’s only one way to resolve this, and we saw this on election day in ‘24: motivating turnout. There were people wearing trash bags on them while voting because the democrats called us trash. My wife, one voting age son, two minor daughters, and I all went to the polls together and prayed together before we went in.

Make no mistake. As soon as the democrats get 51 votes in the Senate, the filibuster is gone. They will pass gun control, increase taxes, spend even more into deficit, allow men in your daughters’ dressing rooms, silence your voice, and on and on.

Scott Pressler has the template. But it does no good if we don’t show up. I am going to get involved in my small county’s Republican Party to start registering voters and motivate turnout. We’re deep red, but the democrats are still working in our county. We can’t take anything for granted.

This is so disturbing. What will happen is that Republicans won’t run because they know they can’t win and if they do they will be in such a minority that they can’t get anything done and will be constantly mistreated. This is California level of blue and likely no turning back. But I blame the RINO GOP that has not helped Virginia in decades. Youngkin won because he used his own money and had the Bush contingency of the GOP backing him. He did nothing while Gov to insure the continuation of Republican existence. Youngkin was too busy working on his 2028 Presidential campaign. I, for one, will do everything I can to see that he loses.

A combination of bad Republican candidates, fired federal workers and the federal shutdown doomed Virginia. It is gone for good now. I need to hang in here for a couple of years, but then will be looking for a place in a red state, probably Kentucky or South Carolina.

As far as I can tell, the demos ran the table. This is largely the result of federal government expansion, with a large number of those employees living in Virginia.

Add to that the relentless immigration we have seen, and you have a demographic shift that is not easily reversed. The great replacement is proceeding apace.

I know Virginia is truly done for when the Democrats pass a law allowing state employee public sector unions collective bargaining rights.

Virginia has a huge number of government workers who hate President Trump and who rightfully feel that Trump is a danger to their jobs

I just checked out a red vs blue voting map of VA and it’s very typical. Blue for the big cities such as Richmond and the Norfolk area. And super huge blue for the DC area.

As long as there are huge multitudes of deep state active, retired and fired federal employees, northern VA will always vote communist.

We lived in Arlington and Norfolk in the 70’s and they were great places. Not anymore.

The shutdown affected tons of VA voters, angered them, motivated them.

It explains the depth of Donks victories, but not so much as the win itself which is normal and expected in this case.

IMHO

Turnout, motivation, organization and money were key factors regarding what happened in VA and NJ, But there was another major factor in this particular case, which very few are aware of.

As mentioned here a couple of weeks ago:

November 2025 Gubernatorial Elections -- New Jersey & Virginia

"The Virginia state Senate has been in Rat hands since they picked up the two seats they needed in 2019. It's been status quo since then, with the Republicans needing one seat to forge a tie and two to take control. With the L.G. probably going Democrat in 2025, one seat isn't going to be enough. The state Senate map for this decade has been gerrymandered to favor Democrats, and under those conditions the GOP is doing well to merely be down 21-19. A similarly gerrymandered state House map also strongly favors Democrats; again, the GOP has done well to even keep it close. The forecast for this November is not sunny for Virginia Republicans at the state legislative level, and they are going to need overachieve a little more if there is any hope of thwarting the agenda of Governor Spanberger".

The House of Delegates map was created to give the Rats an advantage (same with the Senate), but that advantage was supposed to be about 10-15 seats, not 20. Republicans had been very fortunate to keep it close; they did a lot worse last night and it was the Democrats who managed to overachieve their rigged map, with the GOP losing several marginal districts.

It's just one election -- one disastrous election -- but maybe people can stop saying ludicrous things like "Virginia is purple" now. And just wait until 2026 when the Rats easily pass their upcoming gerrymander and eliminate at least 2 Republicans from the House delegation.

People forget that Virginians voted to ban gerrymandering.
