Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told a White House press briefing that the declining U.S. fertility rate is a "national security threat" and warned it is not high enough to ensure the American population remains stable.
Kennedy was speaking to the press after President Donald Trump announced his administration had struck a new deal to reduce the costs of fertility medication.
"Secretary Kennedy is sounding the alarm on a public health issue others are too timid, or too politically cautious, to confront," a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesperson told Newsweek.

Somebody woke up?
I know!! Let’s throw the Southern border wide open!
Too risky with modern wimmin today. Besides they don’t need no man.
RFK Jr: "When my uncle was president, the fertility rate in this country was 3.5.”
“Today it is 1.6.”
“The amount of fertility you need to keep your population is 2.1.”
“We are below replacement.”
“That is a national security threat to our country." pic.twitter.com/HqszrxEFjt— MAHA Action (@MAHA_Action) October 16, 2025
Does this mean feminism and LGBT is a national security threat?
My older daughter just had her first child, and plans to have another. My younger daughter is working on getting married, and wants to have children. But all of their friends, all of their cousins, and all of the children of our neighbors have explicitly stated that they have no desire for children. Too much money. Too much hassle.
It’s weird.
And beyond the lack of desire for children, there certainly seems to be infertility concerns (related, in part to the COVID vaccine, IMO). Fewer people want children, and of those who want children, quite a few are just unable.
Yes.
By design. When you jack up the economy so bad that people can't afford to have kids that is bound to happen.
Here’s an idea. Reduce the crushing taxes (federal, state, and local) on the average American. Then maybe more women can stay home, and take care of kids.
Kinda like it was done in the 1950s.
This is a female problem, rooted in toxic feminism. This is not a society caused problem.
America was better when it had fewer people.
RFK Jr: “When my uncle was president, the fertility rate in this country was 3.5.”
Well, when your uncle was president, abortion was illegal in nearly every state, and oral contraceptives were a new product that wasn’t in wide use. So there’s that.
Bingo!
I think a lot of the lack of interest in having children is the overwhelming amount of entertainment and distractions in society now. Between the internet, social media, gaming, porn, sports, a zillion channels, concerts, etc. who can be bothered with the annoying demands of parenthood?
Plus JFK was a maniac when it came to seeking progeny.
The chicklets seemed to be down for the struggle.
Well we had 5 children and out 9th grandchild is due in April! 4 of our 5 have had children and one who hasn’t isn’t married yet. We are trying todo our part.
That's a big part of it, sure.
Someone mentioned earlier that a lot of it is due to toxic feminism.
The incentives are just not there for a man in American to get married. In fact, he'll get punished for it.
Too many drawbacks.
And it appears to be what our ruling class wants so they can replace us and import new voters.
Just take a look across the pond in the UK. They're trying to do the same thing to America.
