While many on the right view Mamdani's rise to power and likely victory in the New York City mayoral race as a damning sign of what is to come for the Democratic Party, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has a more positive take, arguing that his victory will only be beneficial for Republicans.
DeSantis retweeted an X post by Elon Musk about Mamdani, writing:
Assuming he gets elected, Mamdani will be the most prominent Democrat in America the day he takes office. Voters across the country will be able to watch his leftist agenda in action and know that his path is the Democrat path nationally. Will be good for Republicans, bad for New York City.

Republicans might assume that lesson has already been learned, after all, the Soviet Union, Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, and China all exist, and their damning histories are taught in schools. The crimes of socialists, and those who assumed authoritarian power through socialist means, are no secret. Yet the horrors of Stalin and Mao seem to stir little fear in the hearts of America’s democratic socialists.
Elon has also expressed concern about the rise of Mamdani, posting a video of Mamdani at his rally in NYC on Sunday to X, stating, "Zohran is the future of the Democratic Party."

I am fine with New York City being destroyed, place is a cesspool anyway...Heck the Russians might solve the problem for us...
The ‘rat has been gnawing on the door for decades.
That’s because he can fly hi homeless there like he did the illegals at Martha’s Vineyard.
Even more importantly than a Mamdani win being ‘good’ for the Republicans, is the certainty that his win would absolutely be a ‘BAD’ thing for America.
It may be the existential tipping point for our national culture. The high point on the rollercoaster, just before the free fall plummet begins. Something Obama came close to doing, but thankfully ran out of time before his Mission of disrupting/ dismantling/ disabling America could be fully implemented.
It’s never good when a commie wins.
The problem with your assessment is that we are risking the "virus" spreading to other American cities.
Minneapolis may turn into New Mogadishu.
Democrats have always been bad for New York, even Mike Bloomberg, who posed as a Republican, but was actually a lifelong RAT. He knew he’d never get elected as a Democrat after Rudy, so the New York State Republican Committee let him run as a Republican, because he likely paid them off, and also because they were too lazy to find an actual Republican to run for the office. They’re still lazy and failing Republicans in NY City and the State.
Bloomberg was actually a competent administrator for NYC, basically he kept most of Rudy Giuliani's policies. NYC did not really start to regress until de Blasio took over.
Yes.
It is absolutely BAD for the US if Mamdani is elected. The smartasses here calling NYC a ‘cesspool’ and wishing the worst on it don’t seem to understand what a Mamdani win could ultimately mean.
Yes, it’s never good.
(I’ve never found DeSantis to be someone who thinks very deeply.)
Just because it is happening in NYC doesn't mean it can't happen in the small town/suburb we all live in.
That is the way I see it. Bad for America.
Not saying that what he could do to New York City wouldn’t be a testament to just how deranged and crappy Leftists are, but...I wonder if either voters don’t care, or the fraud is too large.
Yes.
Will it mean Schumer quitting? I’ll take it.
I’m from outside of NYC. I can’t clean up your “smartass” mess.
How I see it, we shouldn't even give up an inch of our territory even if it's New York City.
It's bad enough that we've already lost London.
If he’s elected mayor, there’s a pretty good chance he will eventually become a Governor. And then...
Yep. Imagine by 2030, AOC and Zohran Mamdani are in charge of the Senate.
I’m not in NYC either.
(And many of the ‘smartasses’ I referenced are here on FR. They think NYC electing Mamdani will result in the whole country becoming disillusioned with Democrat ‘Progressives’. But that’s not how liberal insanity works - until it’s far too late to fix things.)
