SNAP recipients in several states are being warned they won’t get their food stamps starting next week if the federal government shutdown drags on.
New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas, Illinois and California are among the states that issued the warnings.
“The Trump administration has indicated to New York that it will not allow states to distribute federal funding for SNAP recipients,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement.
Nearly 3 million New Yorkers who rely on SNAP “could lose access to their benefits starting Nov. 1,” according to her office.
New Jersey officials were “notified by the federal government that if the shutdown continues, November 2025 SNAP benefits may not be available on time,” according to the state’s Department of Human Services.
“It is unclear if SNAP benefits loaded on your Families First EBT card prior to October 31, 2025 will be able o be used after November 1, 2025.”
The shutdown became the second longest in history on Wednesday as it entered its 22nd day.
More than 5 million people in California and nearly 2 million residents of Illinois could be cut off from food stamps beginning Nov. 1, according to officials in both states.
“Our food pantries are going to be overwhelmed with SNAP participants who rely on that critical lifeline for support and for basic food assistance,” Man-Yee Lee of the Greater Chicago Food Depository told CBS News.

The vast majority of SNAP recipients are low IQ democrats. They also are very lazy and unlikely to physically move their carcass on election day to go vote.
But the Rat machinery will send someone out to the welfare bums section 8 address and have them fill out a ballot (harvesting), or in many cases the Rats won’t even bother to send a “volunteer” to the house, they will simply manufacture and fill out the ballot for them (without the recipient ever even knowing a vote was made on their behalf).
This is what the democrats call “Democracy”.

I am perhaps in the distinct minority on FR in that I do support governmental assistance programs as LAST RESORT safety nets for persons with GENUINE disabilities or conditions where self-support would be difficult or impossible. First responsibility is the family, if any. Some folks don;t have any remaining family, I get that. So, the Second level of help then is volutary charities. And the third level of help is the local community. Only 4th should be the state government. The federales should be OUT of this business, ASAP! The feds have no business in this game. They're both minimally competent at it and as we can see dangerous doing it.

A lot of elderly Americans depend on SNAP. Not just ghetto slugs. The Democrats are going to make a LOT of people suffer just to keep Obamacare fraud flowing to illegal aliens.
