Nobody touched Mamdani : The aftermath of the NYC Mayoral Debates
American Thinker ^ | Silvio Canto Jr.

Posted on 10/18/2025 8:51:10 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Did anyone watch the New York City mayor's debate? I saw the rerun later, and it's clear to me that Mamdani is one step closer to winning the election. Let's check this from Newsweek:

On Thursday before the debate, Betfair gave Mamdani a 90 percent chance of victory, but this dropped to an 88 percent chance once it was complete.

Over the same period, Cuomo saw his chances of victory improve from 11 percent to 12 percent.

However, prior to the debate, bookmaker Star Sports gave Mamdani an 80 percent chance of victory, which improved in the immediate aftermath of the debate to 93.3 percent.

During Thursday’s debate, the three candidates clashed over a range of topics, including crime, transportation, housing and the recent Gaza ceasefire deal negotiated by President Donald Trump.

Mamdani said he was someone “who has actually paid rent in the city” and “who has had to wait for a bus that never came, someone who actually buys his groceries in this city.”

Cuomo responded, “What the assemblyman said is he has no experience,” also commenting: “If you look at the failed mayors, they’re ones that have no management experience.”

There you have it. He waited two hours for a bus and that makes him uniquely qualified to be the mayor of the largest city in the Union. Why didn't someone come up with that campaign theme before?

Watching these three men confirms everything that is wrong with New York City. First, the opposition is so weak that a disgraced former governor and a local activist are running against Mamdani. No wonder he is winning. Second, the GOP is so screwed up in New York City that they don't have anyone to put up. Hard to believe that the GOP bench is that weak or bad.

I am personally resigned to the fact that it’s hopeless. Mamdani IS what the plurality of NYC Voters want for mayor whether I like it or not ( disclosure: I live in Nassau County, just next to NYC, and I can’t vote for the NYC Mayor ).

There is a silver lining to a Mamdani victory. He will be the face of the Democrat Party as soon as the networks call the race. Mamdani will be the one going on the Sunday shows at the same time that party leaders will be staying away from him. He will excite the Left and make it more likely that it's time to "primary" more of the centrists.

Mamdani will fail and embolden the crazies. That's good news for us and all those states that see U-Haul trucks crossing their border the next 4 years.

Thiose people who live in New York City and Minneapolis, are so screwed.
Endless increases in taxes to pay for endless perversion, laziness, and just plain theft.
Only a fool would remain, unless, of course, you were profiting from all the wonderful Socialism.

I really don't see any substantial difference between Mamdani and any mainstream democrat, so it doesn't matter if it's Mamdani or Cuomo. In a way, it's too bad AOC didn't jump in.

Hopefully a high-profile lefty like Mamdani will encourage all of the illegal aliens in this country to move to New York City - that would at least limit the potential damage to the rest of the country. And the great social experiment would be right next to the network studios so they can see up close and personal how it's working.

New Yorkers have been hypocrites all through history. They opposed the prohibition of slavery because it affected their shipping interests. They embraced slavery until they got cheap Irish labor and sold their slaves to the South. During the Civil War they killed hundreds, if not thousands of Negroes in the city. They were all for desegregation in the South until it came to their hypocritical city and then raised hell about it...I don't give a rat's ass about their well being and politics as they smell like a hog lot in almost everything they do. New Yorker’s arrogance is another strike against them. F’em.

Every time he opens his mouth he decimates himself except with dirtbag New Yorkers who deserve the future they will vote for.

I wonder why we don't think they'll just exit NYC city limits. The state and proximity to "THE city" must have some appeal.

Oh, I saw Cuomo on Fox this morning talking about how he intends to woo those who have already left to return because he loves capitalism. Lol. I remember him sniggering "good riddance" to Rush.

Just like the North in general, as Randy Newman pointed out in “Rednecks”:

Now, your northern n_____’s a Negro
You see, he’s got his dignity
Down here, we too ignorant to realize
The North has set the n____ free

Yes, he’s free to be put in a cage in Harlem in New York City
And he’s free to be put in a cage on the south side of Chicago
And the west side
And he’s free to be put in a cage in Hough in Cleveland
And he’s free to be put in a cage in East St. Louis
And he’s free to be put in a cage in Fillmore in San Francisco
And he’s free to be put in a cage in Roxbury in Boston
They’re gatherin’ ‘em up from miles around
Keepin’ the n______s down
