Virginia GOP gubernatorial nominee Winsome Earle-Sears swiftly condemned those tied to a Young Republicans group chat scandal—and now she's calling on her opponent, Democrat Abigail Spanberger, to do the same with regard to her own running mate, attorney general nominee Jay Jones.
In a press release issued Wednesday, the Democratic Party of Virginia said Earle-Sears “must call on participants of a leaked Young Republicans chat that used racist language to step down from their roles joining Virginia Young Republican Thomas Turner”—something the lieutenant governor had no problem doing.
“Easy,” she replied, “they absolutely must step down.”
Earle-Sears then said it was Spanberger’s turn to call on Jones to step down over text messages from 2022 expressing his desire to see a political opponent and his children dead.

During last week’s gubernatorial debate, Spanberger was repeatedly given the chance to say whether she still supports Jones, but she refused to respond.

Have they identified who said the things? If not, I assume it is contrived.
It’s stupid to compare a few nebbish college club volunteers making jokes to an elected official who knows better making specific and targeted threats against people he knows...
... but these are stupid times, and Sears cut through the noise beautifully.
I hope the backfire works, but let’s compare the two cases. In one, racist terms were used in a chat and in the other death is wished upon an opponent, his wife, and his young children. Obviously, racist tweets is far graver offense. /s

I really really like Winsome. I have not been following her campaign and her policies though. I assume they’re like Youngkins
Why would Abigail call on Jones to quit? She is a Democrat who all of them, save maybe Fetterman, would wholeheartedly agree with Jones’s desires for the deaths, violent would be nice, of Republicans and probably of anyone else who disagrees with them.
“I really really like Winsome.” Me, too. How can you NOT like somebody named “Winsome”?
If she can govern as well as she talks and reacts then I very mych hope she wins by more than a bit.

I didn’t see what he said, so I looked it up. Apparently...
Jones advocated violence in text messages:
Violent comparison: In an August 2022 text exchange with Republican Delegate Carrie Coyner, Jones compared Gilbert to Adolf Hitler and Pol Pot. In a hypothetical scenario where he had “three people, two bullets,” Jones wrote that Gilbert would get “two bullets to the head”.
Threatening Gilbert’s family: When Coyner responded by asking him to stop, Jones continued by suggesting it would take Gilbert’s wife “holding their dying children in her arms” for Gilbert to change his views on gun control.
Remarks about police: In the same exchange, Coyner alleges that Jones also suggested in 2020 that police officers would need to die before they would stop killing others, a claim Jones denies.
Dems usually do or say whatever is needed to get elected, they don’t stand on principle of what they really believe. They are a kin to others who lie cheat and worse, to get what they want.
That old principle seems to have undergone some modification =. Dems do have to placate their communists else they lose Soros money and get primary opposition.
