Israel releases more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners as part of ceasefire deal

Both Israel and Hamas have met the initial terms negotiated in Egypt with U.S. and Arab mediation.

The Israeli government says that it has released thousands of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the hostages held by Hamas as part of the ceasefire deal mediated by the United States.

Cheering crowds met some of the former prisoners who were released into the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The prisoners include 250 serving life sentences for attacks on Israelis and 1,700 detained in Gaza during the war, the Associated Press reported. Those not delivered to Palestinian territories will be sent into exile.

The prisoner release occurred as the terrorist group Hamas returned all the remaining 20 hostages to Israel according to its obligations under the ceasefire agreement. So far, the group has yet to return all the bodies of deceased hostages, to the consternation of Israeli hostage groups.

Israel’s coordinator for hostages Gal Hirsch said an international task force will work to locate the bodies of the deceased within the next 72 hours, per the Associated Press

The exchange means that, so far, both Israel and Hamas have met the initial terms negotiated in Egypt with U.S. and Arab mediation. The progress prompted President Trump to declare the ceasefire a “historic dawn” of a new Middle East at a speech to the Israeli Knesset earlier today.

Congratulations Trump, but I don’t know how long it will last.

Meanwhile, Trump should be focusing on the insurrection going on in our blue states .... and please start arresting people! I would start with that wealthy fat-@ssed governor from Illinois, and make him an example.

I hope the Israelis gave every one of ‘em a nice shiny new beeper as a parting gift.

1900/20 = 95

1 Israeli is worth 95 Palestinians.

Individual Palestinians may silently wonder why it is that typically during a prisoner exchange; One Israeli is worth approx 12 Palestinians, sometimes worth even more.

Dare they ask why their own (Palestinian)life seems so rock bottom devalued by their own ‘beloved Hamas?
Government sanctioned feelings of worthlessness. That’s where the chronic, chromosomal level state of despair begins.

They surrendered once to save themselves, they will again. Possibly not interested in 72 girls.

Perhaps Israel should’ve returned 950 dead Palestinians. That would’ve been pretty fair.

The release should have been (a) contingent first on a prerequisite of on all Hamas fighters in Gaza disarming and taking exile from all of “Palestine” and (b) the released prisoners released into exile from all of “Palestine”. Let the Arab states take in the terrorists they encouraged.

Israelis always make these lopsided deals. But the fact of the matter is Israel makes a lot more arrests of Palestinians for all kinds of crimes up to and including murder (of Israelis and other Palestinians), plotting terror, etc. Israel is in control of the West Bank and after Oct 7th captured a lot of POWs in Gaza. The Palestinians rarely get an Israeli captured alive and when they do, Israel makes these 100x type deals.

Who knows for sure but the “deal”, as I hear it, is very broad reaching to include a lot of the Arab states that were funding Hamas. Egypt, Qatar and Turkey are all supposedly on notice not to continue funding. Iran may still be funneling weapons as I also hear that Hamas is rearming faster than they can clear the rubble so we’ll see.

The next phases will get more and more difficult. If there is to be any rebuilding, THAT will come from all over the world and the people who are going to be financing 20-30 story $200+ million buildings aren’t going to want them to be on top of weapons tunnels or put in a spot where Israel will have to blow them up again.
