Can’t picture Trump saying it. VDH is a scholar. Reagan says it and the MSM reacts while the public gives it the decency of a 2nd thought and that’s what scares the left.
Trump says something blunt, the MSM reacts, and the left follows. That’s what’s missing today. We have to depend on the JD Vance types to say it on a lower level.

yeah. makes sense. to paraphrase Lincoln to the southern states and Calhoun: the Confederation was a treaty among equals, but the Constitution was/is not. so show me all the ‘long train of abuses’ that you’ve received at the hands of the federal gov’t (which you on the left have largely controlled for the last 40 years, really 140 years). if you can’t do that, your ‘secession’ or rebellion is an illegal crock and you’re an insurrection. get ready for federal troops.

Nearly backwards actually. Jefferson Davis rejected nullification in his farewell address to the U.S. Senate upon Mississippi’s secession. VDH is too stupid to grasp the difference between withdrawing completely and selectively disobeying laws you don’t like.
In 1860, sanctuary cities were all in the North (a form of nullification), so VDH has it hopelessly confused. He’s been spouting this lie for about 3 years now. Has nobody told him the actual history?

We've done this to blue states/blue cities/liberals. They are a lost cause.
The “blue cities” have evolved into what I have come to call City States. They are political entities to themselves. Like the City States in ancient Greece, the American City States control the surrounding territory that in America is their state. That is, Chicago controls Illinois and the governor is beholden to the city.
In America, the City States although independent, act in coalition. The de facto coalition is the Democrat Party. Acting together they control the nation.
President Trump has loosened and perhaps temporarily released their grip. He has three more years to totally destroy the basis for their coalition and existence.
Out of respect for an old Army buddy, I now refer to the Civil War as the War of Northern Aggression. He's from Virginia, and his family ties extend as far back as Martha Custis.
He reminds me of Dick Winters of Easy Company. Always level headed, always made the right decisions. Unfortunately, he was only the XO, and our CO was like CPT Sobel: he couldn't read a map to save his life.
