Breitbart News noted that Walz began pushing for a special gun control session shortly after a transgender male attacked Minneapolis’ Annunciation Catholic school on August 27, 2025.
After mentioning a special session, Walz attempted to pressure Republican lawmakers into supporting an “assault weapons” and complained when they would not.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) has dropped his focus on a special gun control session after his push for an “assault weapons” ban fell flat in the legislature.
CBS News reported Walz saying, “If we’re going to hold a special session on safety of our children and safety of our streets and safety on gun violence, we need to talk about guns.”
He then alluded to Republican ability to block the bans being pushed and described any possible session as “a waste of money and a waste of time.”
The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus posted to X, celebrating Walz backing off the special session but warning that pressure must continue to be kept on lawmakers to keep them from caving: “Gov. Walz just blinked. After weeks of promising a gun control special session no matter what, he’s now backing off — because you turned up the heat. …It’s working.
But it’s not over. Walz says he won’t call a special session unless there’s a deal. That means weak-kneed GOPers or DFLers-on-the-fence could still cave.”

Remember back to 1988 when California tried to ban semi auto rifles and it failed. The bill was shelved.
Then California created a crisis to get it passed.
They then released Pat Purdy from a mental institution,for the 7th time, allowed him to illegally buy a rifle and handgun passing the waiting periods and back ground check.
In 1989 he went and shot up the Stockton school yard killing several students and himself.
The shelved bill was pulled out and passed so fast before opposition could be mounted against it.
Colorado did something similar to get their AW bans passed.
Semi-auto rifles have been around since 1903, so why was it that in 1984 the politicians cast their evil eye on rifles they said they would never ban? The promise from 1962 till 1984 was they ONLY wanted to ban handguns! They saw semi-auto rifles as a target of opportunity to grab.

Hawkins’ “transgender male” would be rendered “transgender woman” in liberal-speak, JFTR. The word “transgender” in all cases should be in scare quotes, since it is not a real condition.

every time I see “gun violance” it, like “assault weapon” is a tip-off that the author is a “gun grabber”
I live in Colorado. That’s not what happened and you can own any type of firearm here that you want.
They are making it more difficult but you can go to any gun store and buy all the scary stuff you can afford.
Now, starting in August 2026, you’re gonna have to get “training” in order to buy any of the scary items, but hopefully it will be shot down by SCOTUS by then.
