Hold on to your britches because you’re not going to believe this one. The Washington Post Editorial Board just admitted that the so-called "Affordable Care Act," one the most notorious pieces of Obama-era legislation foisted upon consumers by legislators and the liberal media as the saving grace of American health care, turned out to be an expensive mess.
The Post tried to play both sides of the fence in the ongoing government shutdown stand off with Republicans and Democrats, the latter of which demanded “Republicans agree to extend the Covid-era insurance subsidies without proposing any way to pay for it.” Then The Post ran one of the biggest plot twists ever to hit American politics in the last 15 years:
“The real problem is that the Affordable Care Act [Obamacare] was never actually affordable.” Nope, your eyes didn’t deceive you. The architects of former President Barack Obama’s 2010 “signature achievement,” wrote The Post, “assumed that risk pools would be bigger than they turned out to be. As a result, policies cost more than expected.”

Words fail
Zeke designed it that way, deny services to anyone over 75, it’s time for them to die. It was no secret.
Braking news.
It was designed specifically to fail to usher in Universal Healthcare
Putting a brake on prosperity.
Naahh can’t be, because they named it the “affordable care act”... They wouldn’t ever lie to us would they?
It would be nice... If during this shut down..
Trump was able to force ALL of congress and staffers into Obamacare.
The Post writes this line as if there was no difference of opinion as to the costs of the policies. Yet, there was vigorous debate about this, and a great deal of warning that this was going to blow up the health insurance industry. The least the Post could do is give credit to those who got it right.
Obama never addressed the exorbitant prices that Big Pharma was charging Americans but not foreign countries. It seems every politician is on their payroll to keep it mums.
Juan McLame allowed it to continue.
Besides what it is (a wealth transfer,) no “bill” should be so comprehensively wide reaching and open ended.
We need a constitutional amendment that requires separate bills for each item addressed, not a 9,000 page monstrosity.
Yeah no sh*t sherlock. It was never meant to be affordable, it was meant as a precursor to single payer which is what commies really want, that is their end game
My company provided health insurance until the Affordable Care Act came along.
Then they couldn’t afford it any more.................
Obamacare simply wasn't given a chance.
It would have worked fine if Doctors, Nurses, Nurse's aides, Clinic Staff and Hospital Staff, were made to work for free.
...
Then you'd only have to figure out how to pay the Guards hired to keep 'em from leaving the Clinics and Hospitals.
As apposed to accelerating news.
“The real problem is that the Affordable Care Act [Obamacare] was never actually affordable.”
The Washington Post is 15 years late in delivering the news.
1. The ACA requirement for health plans to cover pre-existing conditions.
2. The elimination of annual and lifetime caps on coverage.
3. An ever-growing list of treatments and procedures that must be covered under ACA-compliant health insurance plans.
The way they were talking about it back in 2008, I thought healthcare was going to be free.
Not me. EVERY single person who wrote that legislation, promoted it, argued for it or criticized those who tried to tell the truth about it must be sent to prison for no less than 10 years.
