I’m trying to figure out the FBI’s authority in this case. Kirk as a popular person, but not a national elected official. There was no indication of an interstate element of the crime. This wasn’t a robbery of an FDIC insured bank or a kidnapping, both of which give the FBI statutory interest in it. So, why isn’t this purely a Utah matter?
