Rather than condemning violence and calling for unity, the president of the United States accused his political opposition of being accessories to murder.
It is possible that, in the history of America’s radicalization spiral, the horrifying, cold-blooded assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk will be recorded as only the second-most-dangerous event of September 10, 2025. If so, the more significant development will instead have been the speech that evening by President Donald Trump. If you did not listen to Trump’s remarks, which have received only light attention from the media, you might have missed the chilling message they contained.
Trump may have sounded like he was deploring violence and calling for unity. In reality, he did the opposite.
The speech began and ended with encomiums to Kirk’s character and family, which is wholly appropriate. The important and dangerous passage came in a sequence of four sentences in the middle:
“For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now.”
“My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support it, as well as those who go after our judges, law-enforcement officials, and everyone else who brings order to our country. From the attack on my life in Butler, Pennsylvania, last year, which killed a husband and father, to the attacks on ICE agents, to the vicious murder of a health-care executive in the streets of New York, to the shooting of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and three others, radical-left political violence has hurt ...”

This is an double-ugly piece of verbal crap.
You are either part of the solution or part of the problem! Think real hard gentlemen…..
Chait can pound sand . . .
I guess it might be dangerous if you are leftist scumbag.
Sorry. We are not okayed the game anymore. When someone on our side does something violent, we all are labeled with it. Yet, as is more frequent by the day, your side does something violent, we are supposed to be “bi-partisan” and call for all sides to be peaceful.
The left feels power is their birthright. When they don’t have it, they espouse all means to obtain it, including violence.
So POTUS Trump did something outrageous and the MSM ignored it. Thank God for The Atlantic!!
It’s pretty common for leftists to view the truth as dangerous. They will say the same thing about the FBI/CIA attacks on the President, and all the other crimes, frauds, and lies they are responsible for.
Republicans murdered by democrat party foot soldiers. Republicans pounce.
Chait doesn’t need to worry about Trump. He needs to worry about us.
Max Waters is an accessory to murder…Obama too. Lock them up
Dem radicals against Republican self-defense. They have no clue.
Cold civil war will turn hot. You can’t have opposing views like this forever.
The assassination wasn’t dangerous?
What a way to deflect from the responsibility of the Left.
The Atlantic can seriously pound it.
Its always the same form the libsoc left. They commit violence, then cry the attacked are saying bad things about the leftist attackers. Going after those who actually commit and actually encourage the violence, isn’t an over-reaction. The left calls for riots and closing freeways and looting shops. The right call for justice and going after the people who foster violence. And the left says the right is wrong to say and do it while excusing their own destruction crews.
The Atlantic specializes in that.
They're not entirely wrong though. We are all done with the left and their psychotic behavior and Trump is on the same page with us.
Filthy crap.
