Nigel Farage tells his party to prepare for a 2027 General Election

Nigel Farage will tell his fledgling party on Friday to prepare for power as soon as 2027 – as he warns the financial markets could foreclose on Labour's spendthrift Government and force an early election.

Mr Farage, whose Reform UK has topped the polls for months, will issue the alert in a speech to his annual conference (convention) in Birmingham.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail ahead of the conference, the former City trader highlighted the rising borrowing costs being forced on Labour by sceptical financial markets.

And he predicted that a new party formed by Jeremy Corbyn could splinter Labour and help hasten the Government's demise.

'I think they may struggle to last the course,' he said. 'The financial situation is very, very grim. The bond markets, just every single day there is a loss of confidence. I was with a couple of big Wall Street guys last night and confidence in the UK is ebbing. If I'm right about the temptation of the Left for many Labour MPs, they may well struggle to get through another couple of years.

'I shall tell the conference: be ready for an election in 2027.'

It always seems that nothing is settled over there for very long. They have more frequent national elections than France does, here lately.

I just don’t see a supermajority voting no confidence to trigger an election.

If things collapsed as severely as he predicts that is the only mechanism by which there could possibly be public support behind the monarch taking the extraordinary and unheard of in modern times step of making a unilateral (rather than requested) decision to dissolve Parliament and call for new elections.

Then the question becomes, would this far-left party unite with Reform and force a new election? That would be kinda crazy.

But then again, far-left folks are kinda crazy.

Speaking of XTC, I just stumbled across this gem from Andy, the lyrics are very timely (”When we get to England will it still be there?”)

I think that Tony Blair removed the King’s ability to do that. Though Chuckie could perhaps go on TV and make a speech demanding that the PM resign

England will have to append “stan” by that time.
Alas, poor UK, we knew you well.

2029 will be the next election... Labour has a massive majority and they aren’t going anywhere. It would be nice... but wishing for an early election won’t make it so.

The monarchy lost that power a couple of Parliaments ago (Either a Blair or Johnson Parliament!). The monarchy is only left with the week reed of trying to persuade politicians behind the scene.

No reason for them to call early elections. They can wait until August 15, 2029.

Which is a mistake because previously the monarchy was able to "check" the parliament.

But right now the parliament is the supreme governmental body in the UK.

We have three branches here in USA. They only have one...

Exactly!

Remember Parliament has been supreme since it restored Charles II to the throne. It gave the throne to William of Orange to avoid the Catholic Stuarts and later gave it to the Hanoverians (Saxe Colburg Gotha later Windsor!). Parliament could end the monarchy if it took a notion to!

The danger of this one source of authority\power even if its “democratically” the Founding Fathers understood well. That why we have three co-equal branches of government. This is something the Ratlanders are desperately trying to destroy!
