Russian ballistic missiles hit Kyiv in large-scale attack, killing at least 14 as Zelensky calls for ‘new, tough sanctions’ against Putin

Russia unleashed a sweeping aerial assault across Ukraine late Wednesday, pounding Kyiv with ballistic missiles and swarms of drones — killing at least 14 people, including 3 children and injuring over 20.

“Many people are under the rubble, [including] children,” Andriy Yermak, top advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, told The Post.

The barrage began around 9:30 p.m., setting off air raid sirens and prompting urgent shelter notification warnings in nearly every region nationwide.

Missiles, drones, and bombs were spotted throughout the country, particularly in Kyiv, but also in western regions of the country where attacks have been rarer.

At least four Russian MiG-31 jets armed with Kinzhal missiles took off during the attack, the Kyiv Independent reported.

At least 14 people — including three children — in Kyiv were killed and more than 22 were injured, Zelensky said.

“These Russian missiles and attack drones today are a clear response to everyone in the world who, for weeks and months, has been calling for a ceasefire and for real diplomacy,” Zelensky said Thursday on X.

“Russia chooses ballistics instead of the negotiating table. It chooses to continue killing instead of ending the war. And this means that Russia still does not fear the consequences. Russia still takes advantage of the fact that at least part of the world turns a blind eye to murdered children and seeks excuses for Putin.”

Zelensky said that it is “definitely time for new, tough sanctions against Russia.”

Putin is continuing to press maximalist demands for Ukraine to surrender territory, including areas that Russian forces don’t occupy. He has so far ignored Trump’s call for Putin to hold direct talks with Zelenskiy as the next stage of the negotiating process.

I might care if the grifter zelensky wasn’t doing drone and other attacks on the interior of russia, then running to the EU and anyone else he can get attention from, begging for more equipment, money, and now nato or U.S. boots on the ground on the front line.

As it is, zelensky is continuing the war, because it’s the only thing keeping him in power and making him rich.

LOL, Russians attacking Ukraine's civilian population is the same as Ukraine attacking Russian refineries that fund the Russian military. Okay

On the night of Friday, August 28, Ukraine continued its systematic strikes on russian oil refineries, successfully striking the Kuibyshev refinery in Samara, as well as the Afipsky refinery in Krasnodar Krai, russia.

Keep bombing Russian oil pipelines until they no longer can export oil. Go after their oil terminals. This is a war of attrition and the only way Russia will stop is when they no longer have income to keep prosecuting the war.

Zelensky should be told “If you’re going to take Moscow, take Moscow” (h/t Bonaparte).

Zelensky does not have the means to win his war. A responsible leader would get the best deal he can get. All that’s happening are increasingly futile gestures to lure the US into his war, which will not happen unless the international Deep State can overthrow our government and replace it with neocons.

And if the British and the Germans want war with Russia I’m sure they can have it as soon as they want.

Let the sanctions begin.

Russia is already the most sanctioned country on the planet.

Learn people. Like Vietnam. Make an agreement to split the country. Then violate it all over the place until 10 years in, you invade outright and get it back. Sure, lots of differences, but the Russian people want out like our Senators eventually knew politically.

Putin lost on the ground. His assault was annihilated.

His only recourse is to use the expensive and over the top Missiles to kill defenseless citizens.

Meanwhile........ no gasoline in Moscow.

Zelensky...A responsible leader would get the best deal he can get.

Unfortunately, Putin is making maximalist demands of Ukraine; to in effect surrender. Kremlin wants Ukraine to surrender territory, including areas that Russian forces don’t occupy, Ukraine to de-militarize, to be neutral with no protective alliances, to establish Russian language on par with Ukrainian, to de-nazify(de-Ukrainize), etc.

It would turn Ukraine into a Putin's puppet state, just like Belarus.

And let’s not forget that the EU basically seized all Russian money in their banks. Russian started this war but the EU wants it to go on.

EU was a for a total ceasefire, which Putin turned down.

There is no reason for Putin to meet with Zelensky at the moment.
Zelensky has said numerous times he will not trade land for Peace.
And Putin will not give up Yookland he has won in Battle.
Nor, will Putin agree to a ceasefire.

So, the war continues.
