DOGE Announces Another $2B in Savings—You Won’t Believe What They Found

If you thought the Trump Administration was finished making cuts to government spending, think again. No other institution on earth can spend money like the U.S. government—the effort by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to get spending under control and cut waste has never happened on this level before. On Sunday, the DOGE team announced another round of major cuts, nearly $2B worth:

Contracts Update!

Over the last 5 days, agencies terminated 163 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $1.9B and savings of $647M, including, a $35M USAID contract to “acquire contractor support to establish and manage a flexible, quick response mechanism supporting…

Contracts Update!

Over the last five days, agencies terminated 163 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $1.9B and savings of $647M, including, a $35M USAID contract to “acquire contractor support to establish and manage a flexible, quick response mechanism supporting activities that will support democracy and stability in El Salvador,” a $280K Deparment of the Interior contract for “horse mounted patrol groom services," a $102K DOT contract for an “assessment specialist academics provost office,” a $179K State Department contract for “customized English language training to the US embassy in Yerevan, Armenia,” and a $25K DOI contract to “provide facilitation, collaborative problem solving services.”

DOGE was able to cut $35 million from a USAID program to support “democracy and stability in El Salvador.” Why would U.S. dollars need to support democracy in El Salvador? And frankly, that money was to “acquire a contractor,” which essentially means that money would have gone straight into someone’s pocket with no real results or oversight.

Another $280 thousand dollars for “horse-mounted patrol and grooming services.” I’m not sure I would Google that with my kids around. I understand $280 thousand is not a lot in the grand scheme of government spending, but these numbers really start to add up over time.

And my favorite, almost $200 thousand for “customized English language training to the US embassy in Yerevan, Armenia.” I would actually laugh at this one if it weren’t so absurd.

Big: Corporation for Public Broadcasting Will Close Their Doors

This comes after Congress used its rescissions authority to end taxpayer funding for both NPR and PBS. The clear bias by both networks led to these cuts, something that conservatives had been pushing for decades—another accomplishment reaching the finish line by the effort of Congress and the White House. RedState covered the cuts extensively. The New York Post put it this way at the time of the announcement:

“The Corporation for Public Broadcasting – which funds NPR and PBS — will shut down after the loss of federal funding. The decision comes weeks after the GOP-led House of Representatives approved $9 billion in cuts to public media and foreign aid – siding with President Trump’s longtime calls to defund outlets he has accused of having a left-wing bias. Those cuts included $1.1 billion set aside for the CPB over the next two years.”

For President Trump and his administration, the focus on reducing government spending is a win for all of us—even if the left refuses to admit it. DOGE is not done. While President Trump and Elon Musk’s relationship is strained at the moment, the work that both of them believe in continues through the Department of Government Efficiency.

The entire federal government is likely rife with such waste and fraud. What needs to happen is for the entire federal budget to be sunset, so that every spending item has to be redebated and revetted. Otherwise this will never end.

“No other institution on earth can spend money like the U.S. government”

Hey Red State, be more specific: It is the uniparty Congress that steals our money then redistributes it. This is not difficult.

Either what you said - which they will never do - or fed.gov needs to just go broke altogether so leech contracts, NGOs and people can just go die.

I have a feeling that Musk and his crew found out how the accounting for u.s. government monies works...it was then passed on to monitors to do the compete ferreting out of the details ...meanwhile Musk left. His job was done. We need more cuts of the obvious boondoggling of federal(I.e. taxpayers) money. We need a partial refund for now. And pay down of the debt. But taxpayers(me) want some money back now.
Assuming 161 million taxpayers ..a savings of 300 billion is about 1800 bucks per taxpayer...pay off the debt with 150 billion(150 billion) and divide the other 150 billion among the 161 million taxpayers and each one gets 900 bucks People paying no tax at all, get no refund. Anyone who paid any tax( including withholding) gets 900 buck refund. If a trillion is saved ..refund about 3 thousand....and pay off 500billion on deficit....not bad....
An estimation but IMHO & FWIW.

$1.9 billion in contracts terminated, but only $647 million in savings?

How does that reconcile?

Why would U.S. dollars need to support democracy in El Salvador?

My bet is that the money would go to undermine and overthrow the elected president who cleaned up El Salvador, turning it from one of the most dangerous countries in the world to one of the safest.

$1.3 billion already spent with only $647 million that can be cancelled, maybe.

I was just ruminating the other day that DOGE has been very quiet and wondered if it was still active. Looks like it is. Hope they continue throughout this administration!

$2 Trillion savings is possible without interference from Obama district judges.

Obama legacy lives on with lifetime judges. Horrible system.

...pay off the debt with 150 billion

Pay off the debt? That's hardly even a service payment on the debt.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting

Corporation????!!

I'm surprised that the Marxists didn't use Ministry instead of Corporation.

I remember very well that the non-commercial PBS had more and more commercials at the beginning of each hour. Something close to "This program is brought to you with the generous support of............." The first few supporters were always foundations. Eventually, some of the" generous" supporters were Pepsi, Nike, etc. They basically put all of the non-commercial commercials at the beginning of the show.
