If crime goes down, a side effect might be that establishment politicians do not need that entourage of smartly dressed body guards whose primary role is to make the boss appear to be important and worth protecting.

Whatever happened to the proposed reciprocal CCW allowance? Haven’t heard a thing about it for some time. If you have a CCW in one state, it should be honored in all.
I love Trump, but I hate when he says that in that way. It implies that our “unalienable” God-given rights are subject to the whims of a particular president or other elected official. Our constitutional right to “keep and bear” arms is absolute and non-conditional, and the personal feelings that any particular elected official happens to have about that are irrelevant.
I read it differently, that he is saying
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
in a short and concise way.
Soon we will see men and women wearing logo laden team shooting vests on the Mall and in the Museums, just like you see them at the range. And since they have logo laden team shooting vests on, the police and National Guard will know they are the good guys during shoot-outs... it might work.
Quite a few of our gun ‘rights’ are spelled out in the D.C. Code. Historically, Congress has had the power to legislate any changes. Many of the restrictions were/are quite arbitrary and were clearly imposed to give our esteemed lawmakers some ‘safe space’. IOW, they can’t be changed by the local jurisdiction. In my day, it was virtually impossible to get a permit to carry a handgun.
From early on in the reporting on happenings in DC, one of the items mentioned in the tallies was illegal gun confiscations.
If the second amendment is to prevail per recent SCOTUS rulings, what are in fact illegal guns to be confiscated.
Why does DC anti gun law supersede the constitution?
My opinion is if you feel the specific need to CCW just to go somewhere, you probably shouldn’t ever go there.
Well ok.....opinions are like assholes....almost everyone has one. Thanks for the color. What say the banglist?
But then DC will be like the wild west, with sky-high murder ra—oh, wait.
Revoke DC’s home rule powers.
Now.

CCW would be nice, but guns are expensive, so I can’t afford one. And that’s why no self-respecting mugger would touch me, and I have no car to jack, and my computer is a POS, and my wife is too old to fear rape, though I still love and lust for her. “When you ain’t got nothing, you got nothing to lose.”
