Elon Musk backtracked on his promise to remake US politics with his 'America Party' and instead plans to use his immense wealth to help JD Vance become the next president.
The billionaire Tesla founder intends to shift his focus back to his companies after a tumultuous stint working with President Trump and has become wary of upsetting Republicans, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Musk has decided to join other tech titans and rally behind the person they believe is the likely successor to Trump: Vice President JD Vance, who has made moves recently suggesting he will run in 2028.
The former DOGE head spent nearly $300million helping to elect Trump in 2024, but the duo has a spectacular fallout earlier this year with Musk eventually writing on X that 'Trump is in the Epstein files.'
With Trump term-limited as president, Musk is considering putting his massive wealth behind Vance in 2028.
He would join other tech honchos who have doled out money to Vance such as Palantir CEO Peter Thiel, former PayPal COO David Sacks, Roku CEO Anthony Wood and entrepreneur Palmer Luckey.
Recent polls show Vance as a clear front runner for the 2028 Republican nomination.
Musk has been speaking to Vance in recent weeks, the Journal said, and believes launching the America Party for the 2026 midterms might jeopardize their relationship.

We do NOT need a third party.
Thiel’s “partner” - who he “married” - is/was VP at Blackrock.
“Kristi Noem would make a good president.”
A lot of women might make a good President, but I can’t think of one who would make a great President.
Call me what you will, I’m too old to care, but I will never endorse, nor vote for, a woman for President.
I think he’s a bit bipolar. As long as after his many tantrums he will have over the next two years, he still gives money to conservative candidates, then go on Elon with your crazy self.
It is true. But it helped us big time in 2000 and 2004.
That’s great news!!
I will never vote for a female ...
The lessons of history are as plain as the nose on your face, even if you can't see it -- whichever political party splits in half elects the other party, it's simple and inevitable.
If you advocate for a third party -- one which will take more voters from Republicans than from Democrats -- then you are advocating for the election of more Democrats.
What sane person would ever do that?
Sacajaweau: "We do NOT need a third party."
Democrats splitting into two parties could be very helpful.
Yes, yes we do. The republican party are back-stabbing, democrat enablers that are largely responsible for the mess our country is in. They are only doing anything remotely helpful now because of Donald J. Trump. They will revert to their old anti-American pro-democrat ways when he’s gone.
The Democrats would just LOVE IT if another well-funded Third Party is created that will pull votes from Republicans, particularly when MAGA is busy CLEANING UP the Republican Party.
As bad as that is, if the Democrats can convince someone to fund that Third Party, there are MILLIONS of Conservatives ready to drink that Kool-Aid, as we see here.
So why not consider a Third Party to spilt the Democrats down the middle - after all, they’re now reduced to cutting the dicks off of little kids and giving COMMERCIAL driver’s licenses to people who cannot speak English - rather than giving the Democrats a FREE PASS to rule over us?
“He was right about the need for a new political party in America”
Nope.
Nonsense!
Your last line is pure lunacy
Trump was an outlier. He ran as a Republican but was really more of an independent. Thats why the leaderships of both parties hate him. He’s violating their turf. He can get away with it because, well, he’s Donald Trump.
The Trump phenomenon is a once in a rare moon alignment of the political stars. It might not happen again for generations to come.

Truth.
Hard to play 4-D Chess Solo.
Hi, you’re making a lot of assumptions about numbers. I’m not advocating for three parties. I’m advocating for two parties. With Trump’s endorsement, the new party would replace the republican party. The republican party would be reduced to a fringe party. Republican voters are more than ready. Trump is not really a republican anyway he already represents the new populist party. It just needs a name and his support and watch it take off.

The problem with Kristi is she cares too much about her looks. Now Britain had a great female Prime Minister with Margaret Thatcher. But Britain is an insignificant island. Golda Meir was a great Prime Minister for Israel. Indira Gandhi was a pretty good Prime Minister for India. I suppose there could be a good female President, but I am not sure I have seen the candidate yet. It would have to be a mother figure. And someone realistic about the craven evil in the world.
Elon got too manic there with Donald Trump and politics. His manic episodes are a plus when it comes to innovation and running his businesses.
Cut off your nose to spite your face then
We don’t need another Democrat in the White House
