A 71-year-old Florida woman is behind bars after authorities say she lured a father and his two daughters to her property and held them at gunpoint in a bizarre case that’s left authorities reeling over what caused this strange incident.
According to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Department, Helen Litchfield has been charged with three counts of kidnapping, three counts of aggravated assault, and one count of armed burglary. She was arrested Friday and booked into the Wakulla County Jail.
The incident began on August 4, when a father and his two daughters, both under the age of 13, were fishing from a bridge. Deputies say Litchfield approached them and invited the family to come fish at her pond. Once at her home, however, the situation took a disturbing turn.
Investigators say Litchfield produced a gun and ordered the family to stay put, telling them she didn’t believe the man was actually the girls’ father. Despite the family’s insistence that they were related, Litchfield allegedly searched them while holding the weapon. Deputies also believe she rifled through the family’s car while they were on her property.

Deep into the no go zone
They were fishing and she “lured” them to her pond? 🤣
Sounds like Helen needs a minder
Pretty koi.
Keep reading for all the “lured” details…
OOF!!!
Those are serious offenses. In the civil suit, I’d say Dad and the girls should get the pond!
Crazy Florida Karen...
Definitely a mental case.
“Forget it, Jake. It’s Florida.”
**Sounds like Helen needs a minder**
Au contraire. It’s the man juice she’s missing.
It’s the problem with all the Karen’s out there.
Well, I was going to say something snarky, but I guess she IS a newsworthy woman. So, she’s got that going for her!
Florida, the lowest of the lower 48.
Wholly crap, THE EYES!
Mom: “You never call.....”
Lol well done!
The entire Florida family seems pretty dysfunctional.
I’m so happy I’ve never met any of them when I have visited Florida.
OMG Cant unsee!!
Oooooh! I had a pen pal in Wakulla when I was in elementary school.
I know. Who cares ..... But ...... WAKULLA! Haven’t thought about that in 60+ years.
Hey, maybe she was my pen pal?
