SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. — Starting December 8th, 2025, Shasta County residents could face fines for improperly sorting their trash, as part of a new waste management initiative. This change is driven by Senate Bill 1383, which mandates California residents to separate food scraps, food-soiled recyclables and yard waste from regular trash and recycling to reduce landfill contributions.. .

More greenie madness.

Help me make this make sense.

We already can't put mattresses or electronics in dumpsters or trash.

We can't put recyclables, plastics, cans, glass, in trash

Nor " yard waste ", vegetation of any sort .

And now we can't put food scraps, food-soiled recyclable in trash.

What does that leave we CAN put in our trash ?

food scraps, food-soiled , and paper products are the only thing I can, used to now I guess, put in my trash .

.

They want me to have separate trash cans for

1 paper 2 food scraps/ food soiled trash 3 recyclables 4 yard trash 5 electronics

???

That leaves only paper I can put in my

" regular" trash ?

Madness .

Money grabbing madness at that considering the fines.

What’s the fine to the waste hauling companies when they combine all this crap back together after the pick it up and take it to their yard?

Cancel the trash pickup service and get a burn barrel.

How’s that going to work out in the hood?

How’s that work at apartment buildings?

And what's the fine for all the waste cluttering up the streets by vagrants and drug addicts?

If the government really wants this to work, don’t leave to the people to do. Bring in technology to do it right at the sorting center, where the trash is brought and dumped on an assembly belt. That’s the only way it can be made to work.

For the first, I will say look to Europe to see how they sort their trash.

/

Exactly, it doesn’t

I live in an apartment.

My food scraps and food soiled things go into a dumpster, along with everything else.

But home owners ? No , they get the burden and penalties.

How is this not just another fine $ generator ?

East Bejjing ( formerly known as Sacramento) has a bunch of power mad ecocommies in the capital building.

Recycling is an expensive scam that accomplishes nothing.

There is no chance that three separate trucks and drivers for different things all consuming diesel is more efficient and cheaper than everything in one big dump.

Did your garbage bill skyrocket the day they implemented “recycling”? Of course it did.

I haven’t had trash service since I moved here. I do separate plastic into an old trash can, and tin and aluminum into another one. Every month or so I dump them into the city recycling trailer. Meanwhile, the really icky stuff and glass I throw into plastic “wal-mart” bags and toss them into a sidewalk trash receptacle on my way from the parking garage to the office.

This is actually more convenient than having curbside pickup because my driveway is a quarter mile long. And I pay county income tax, so I’m paying for those trash receptacles on the street.

Note: I retired four years ago so now I drop the “trash in the bin at the gas station when I buy gas. It’s just two of us at home and we produce little trash.

I think a lot of freepers are missing the point, which is not to process waste efficiently; it is to criminalize every citizen so he or she will be vulnerable to coercion and manipulation by the government. They couldn’t care less about waste products, they care a lot about cowed citizens.

I forgot to add that I have chickens and a garden, so most of the food scraps go to the chickens and compost.

The whole point of Karenocracy is to torture folks and make them as miserable as possible.

“Saving the planet” is just an excuse to “torment the peons”.
