Deal or no deal, Mark Carney has to manage a new relationship with the United States

A week after the latest deadline to somehow resolve the trade war that Donald Trump has launched against Canada — and with Canadian officials now looking ahead to a full renegotiation of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement — many things remain unclear.

But when Mark Carney spoke to reporters in British Columbia on Tuesday, he expressed clarity about at least one thing.

"While we'll continue to work with the United States on the many mutually beneficial opportunities that we share in trade and investment," the prime minister said, "it is clear that we cannot count, or fully rely, on what has been our most-valued trading relationship, for our prosperity."

Such comments follow from Carney's insistence in March that Canada's "old relationship" with the United States was "over." And it remains remarkable to hear a prime minister talk this way about this country's largest trading partner and closest ally, with whom Canada has spent most of the last century growing steadily closer.

But it's also increasingly hard to dispute.

But it's also increasingly hard to dispute.

"And that's why," Carney continued on Tuesday, "we're increasingly focused on building our strength at home and finding new opportunities for Canadian companies and workers abroad."

Carney will still obviously be judged on how he navigates the current dispute. But deal or no deal — tariffs or no tariffs — the larger question is how Canada should navigate this new world.

Note: CBC is a fully, openly funded media possession of the Canadian government.

‘”And that’s why,” Carney continued on Tuesday, “we’re increasingly focused on building our strength at home and finding new opportunities for Canadian companies and workers abroad.” ‘

He doesn’t have enough time or resources to find those new opportunities abroad before his domestic economy collapses - and that’s assuming the western provinces stay in Canada. If they leave, the wealth transfer stops and Atlantic Canada goes bankrupt pretty much immediately. And it’s increasingly looking like barring dirty tricks, the western provinces *are* going to leave.

The flight attendants at Air Canada defied the federal order to return to work.

Interesting to see if Canadians are noticing that federal authority is weakening (especially outside of Quebec and Ontario).

Much ado about nothing...the vast majority of Canadian & Mexico imports are subject to PDJT’s 2020 “USMCA”. 90% of Canadian imports are not subject to any new tariffs, and 84% of Mexico imports are not subject to any new tariffs.

“The USMCA is the fairest, most balanced, and beneficial trade agreement we have ever signed into law.” - PDJT 2020

Now that Carney has pissed off the leader of the largest economy in the world, somebody should ask Carney how things with the second largest economy.

(China hits Canadian Canola producers with 75% tariff. Carney is sacrificing Saskatchewan growers to save Ontario EV jobs with, wait for it..., 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs.)

The CBC is a propaganda wind of the Liberal socialista party of Canukistan. After the CBC convinced Canadians that Trump was serious about making Canada the 51st state, Canadians elected Carney the Tough to office. A few weeks after the election the liberal government of Canada paid the CBC a cool 41 million dollars for their help.

As far as Carney goes, he is bent on keeping Canada an isolated and backward country with monopolistic industry protected by high tariffs, thereby closing Canada’s economy to the world.

Welcome to Zimbabwe North, Canada thinks America wants it? Nothing could be further from the truth.Who would want to include in America ,a nation of left wing progressive socialists , who believe in “carbon neutral oil,” and the anti capitalist environmental rules of the World Economic Forum.

Carney has convinced Canada that the USA wants to absorb Canada. Nothing could be further from the truth. They rot quite well on their own.

I am starting to become suspicious that the alt right associated with Trump have carefully studied the Soros color revolution program and adapted it to their political ends, which include annexation of Canada and stripping away of all Canada’s natural resources and wealth to their own benefit and not to the benefit of the Canadian people (whether they deserve it or not).

Watching carefully and not being too surprised if black SUVs pull up outside my house and silence my voice of concern. As I said, they have studied carefully. And they know how to inflame prejudices on-line too, another tool of the color revolution.

Do all of you want to be part of something like that?

Is that what you signed up for?

Now it’s time for a paid operative to put me in my place, which one will do the Master’s bidding? It will make you feel like a real ______ (you know what the missing word is).

“The truth shall set you free.”

The USMCA is up for review and potential renegotiation on July 1, 2026.
That will be when real get ‘Real’

Castro Jr. welched on that deal, cheating all the way.
President Trump is fixin to re-negotiate, or vaporize that agreement.

Current tariffs are leverage in reserve
