Vice President JD Vance said Sunday that it would be up to President Donald Trump to bring Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky together to broker a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine.
White House officials have suggested they are open to a trilateral meeting, but Vance did not suggest a time or date when he spoke to Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.” He did say, however, that the White House is “trying to figure out, frankly, scheduling and things like that, around when these three leaders could sit down and discuss an end to this conflict.”
Trump and Putin are planning a meeting this Friday in Alaska, as the White House seeks a deal to end the war in Ukraine that began with Russia’s invasion more than three years ago.
Vance said on “Sunday Morning Futures” that he did not think it would be “productive” for Putin to meet with Zelensky before meeting with Trump.
“Fundamentally, this is something where the President needs to force President Putin and President Zelensky, really, to sit down to figure out their differences,” Vance said. “The way to peace is to have a decisive leader, sit down and force people to come together.”
U.S. NATO ambassador Matthew G. Whitaker said on CNN’s “State of the Union” he thought that it was “certainly” possible that Zelensky could attend the summit, but added that Trump will ultimately make the decision.
“If he thinks that is the best scenario to invite Zelensky then he’ll do that,” Whitaker said. “Today is Sunday, the meeting’s happening on Friday. There’s time to make that decision. No decision has been made to this point.”

Trump remembers how Zelensky tried, but failed, to blow up the meeting
at the White House. In fact, Zelensky is already trying to blow up The Trump-
Putin meeting. Zelensky has already said he will not swap land for Peace.
So what’s the point of Zelensky being there other than blow up the meeting
and walk out?
Trump and Putin only, the corrupt little man in green will try to torpedo the meeting.

Trump looks at Putin, shrugs his shoulders and says “I tried.” And then the US goes about its business. They want to kill each other, have at it. If the EU wants to step in, cool. But the US is wiping its hands of this matter.
