Protest has long shaped political discourse in the North Bay, from anti-war marches and Black Lives Matter demonstrations to animal rights actions at local farms and factories. But under Donald Trump’s second term, as political tensions deepen, such actions have become more frequent — and more provocative.
On July 17, in Santa Rosa’s Old Courthouse Square, a protest took a sharp turn into political theater.
A small group of activists, dressed in brown military-style uniforms and Nazi armbands, staged a performance of “Springtime for Hitler,” a satirical musical number from Mel Brooks’ 1967 film, “The Producers.” Lyrics were rewritten to target Trump, goose-stepping choreography was added, and a cardboard missile — complete with a cowgirl astride it — rolled across the square.

I hate Santa Rosa nazis.
Running around in Nazi uniforms is going to get them killed.
Also, they don’t really “get” satire, from what I see.
The accompanying photo shows about 30 complete losers.
Was it really “Satire”? Or was it an unintended admission of what they really are?
I thought Nazi military uniforms were outlawed for public dress.
Best response.
These people are pathetic and so ignorant of history and current events. President Trump is rooting out all the evil corruption in the government (well, at least some of it), restoring normalcy to the country, ending vile anti-semitism, restoring law and order in the cities, igniting a booming economy, ending wars all over the world, ending the injustice of tens of millions of illegals bleeding us dry, end vote fraud caused by illegals, ending crooked apportionment of House seats...yet they fixate on him as a tyrant and use their childish props.
They just couldn’t resist those Hugo Boss designs…..
Clowns
“Satire” is an abused word on the left. The left loves to use the word to paper over bald-faced insults against the right.
