RFK Jr Pushes ‘Universal Vaccine’ Plan as $500m mRNA Funding Scrapped

US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr has scrapped over $500 million (€432 million) in federal vaccine funding, announcing a pivot towards developing a so-called “universal vaccine” designed to mimic natural immunity.

In a statement on August 6, 2025, Kennedy confirmed that the US Department of Health and Human Services will cancel 22 vaccine development projects (all using mRNA technology) in favour of “safer, broader vaccine strategies.” The move, affecting major players like Pfizer and Moderna, has sparked fierce backlash from public health experts across the US.

Kennedy claimed the goal is a new, all-in-one jab that could offer protection not just against COVID-19 but also influenza and future pandemics.

CDC votes to phase out controversial mercury-based ingredient in flu vaccines

Speaking from Anchorage, Alaska, hours after the announcement, Kennedy declared, “It could be effective – we believe it’s going to be effective – against not only coronaviruses, but also flu.”

The health department described the cancelled mRNA contracts as part of a “shift in vaccine development priorities.” Kennedy, a long-time vaccine critic, said mRNA platforms are flawed and unstable when viruses mutate.

“We reviewed the science, listened to the experts, and acted. BARDA is terminating 22 mRNA vaccine development investments because the data show these vaccines fail to protect effectively against upper respiratory infections like COVID and flu. We’re shifting that funding toward safer, broader vaccine platforms that remain effective even as viruses mutate,” he said in a video posted on X.

Reactions from the medical community were swift and damning.

“I don’t think I’ve seen a more dangerous decision in public health in my 50 years in the business,” said infectious disease expert Mike Osterholm of the University of Minnesota, cited by Sky News.

Dr Paul Offit of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia also slammed the decision, “It’s certainly saved millions of lives,” he said, referring to mRNA vaccines used during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What is mRNA?

mRNA (messenger RNA) vaccines do not use the actual virus to trigger immunity. Instead, they deliver a genetic blueprint that instructs the body to create a harmless viral protein, prompting an immune response.

This approach allows for quicker production of vaccines, according to the UK Health Security Agency. Moderna previously claimed mRNA could accelerate flu vaccine development.

Despite Kennedy’s criticism, the Department of Health clarified that “other uses of mRNA technology within the department are not impacted by this announcement,” including research into cancer therapies and other diseases.

This is the latest in a series of controversial decisions by Kennedy since taking office:

He has fired the advisory panel that recommends vaccines

Scaled back COVID-19 vaccine guidance

Refused to endorse any jab, despite a worsening US measles outbreak

As experts warn of rising vaccine hesitancy and reduced pandemic preparedness, the bigger question looms: will a universal jab really deliver?

My children got the mRNA. They all got covid and more than once. My grandchildren...same thing. My granddaughter just got it again for the 4th time...and she had shots up the kazoo because she works at CHOPS.

Plenty of Medical articles on it.

I got the J&J and so did one son. Neither of us got covid.

This seems like a trial balloon, and not a particularly smart one.

So…why do people need to hear from ‘they’?

The covid shot works or it doesn’t?

Theirs cases would have been worse if they hadn’t received the shot? Where is the research and data on that?

Em. He said he got covid 3 times. He says he got vaccinated 6 times.

He wasn’t required to. CDC, FDA, pharmaceutical employees, congress, WH. Workers, NIH. None were required to get the vax

By the time the covid vax was available here I was afraid to get it so I didn’t. I got the two pneumonia vax and the second one gave me so many adverse reactions, I’m still having them today. I did get pneumonia anyway. I didn’t get covid vax and I didn’t get covid. I’ve read so many terrifying stories about vax lately, I don’t plan to get any more. My mom got covid vax and all the boosters but was still in hospital for a month with covid and pneumonia. Everyone in my family who got covid vax still got covid. And those of us, 7 of us, who didn’t get covid vax, didn’t get covid. The few times I got sick during the epidemic I was tested for covid and was negative. I grew up before vax were available. I actually had chickenpox, mumps, measles... no big deal.

Sounds like me. No covid shot, no covid. My friend was forced to get the vax where she worked. They even paid her $1500 to get that shot. She still got covid several times. The last time she was in the hospital.

Free, safe, effective... ha ha ha

"Refused to endorse any jab, despite a worsening US measles outbreak"

Oh Noes!!!

Yeah, but, folks have already figured out that therapeutic doses of simple Vitamin A for two days results in an "81% reduction in risk of mortality" (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11869601/). Imagine how beneficial it would be to not be deficient in Vitamin A in the first place; or to supplement daily during a measles outbreak. So sick and tired of the boogie-men thrown out there to foment fear so Big Pharma can take your money and make you sicker. Totally looking forward to Crimes Against Humanity hangings.

I got no shots. I did get Covid once.

Someone posted a theory that people who got the vax also got Covid — multiple times. But those who didn’t get a vax either got Covid only once, or not at all. Interesting.

Because there wasn't enough Population ReductionTM the first time around.

When do the Nuremberg II trials start for Fauci and his co-conspirators?

Fauci and his co-conspirators should be dancing the Spandau Ballet

You can’t stop viruses from spreading when it’s on your skin and clothing. It’s not like your white blood cells will come out of your body to go after viruses.

I wonder if what he is looking at is something that more like immune support shot like taking an airborne. It isnt written for anything specific, just boosts your immune system overall.

“I don’t think I’ve seen a more dangerous decision in public health in my 50 years in the business,” said infectious disease expert Mike Osterholm of the University of Minnesota, cited by Sky News.

Well, considering how we've all been burned by vaccines in the past, a one size fits all vaccine sounds sketchy.

But considering who's opposing it and how vehemently they are, maybe it's a better idea than I thought.

I had it twice.

Once confirmed by testing the the first time in early April 2020 when you could not get tested to save your life and the doctor’s offices and hospital were all shut down. So there was no point in going.

Rough couple weeks and I was short of breath for months afterward. My self-diagnosis was walking pneumonia and since I didn’t have any indicators of a bacterial infection, I just pampered myself and took it very easy, like they recommend for walking pneumonia recovery. I figured no matter what I had, rest was the best cure all.
