Americans’ support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza is dropping rapidly, prompting pro-Israel Democrats and some of President Donald Trump’s long-time allies to warn that the country could permanently damage its standing in the United States.
A Gallup poll released this week found that just 32% of US adults support Israel’s military actions in Gaza — a record low since the war was launched in response to Hamas’ October 7, 2023, terror attack. The poll also found the strongest partisan split yet: Support among those who identify themselves as Republicans remained strong, at 71%. But just 8% of Democrats and 25% of independents say they back Israel’s military actions.
In perhaps the most ominous long-term sign for backers of Israel, the poll found just 9% support for its actions among those age 18-34 of all political parties.
The shift in public opinion has crucial implications for both parties: Some members of Trump’s MAGA movement are vocally questioning whether the United States should keep supporting Israel, while plummeting backing for the country among Democrats will likely impact the party’s primaries in key races in 2026 and 2028.
The collapse in American support for Israel is part of a global trend. The United Kingdom said this week it would recognize a Palestinian state before the United Nations General Assembly unless Israel takes major steps to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The announcement followed France’s decision to do so.
United Nations agencies are warning that “time is running out to mount a full-scale humanitarian response” in the besieged Gaza Strip. Data show that more than one in three people (39%) are now going days at a time without eating, the UN’s World Food Programme said in a statement Wednesday, adding that over 500,000 people — almost a quarter of Gaza’s population —

CNN, meh.
This is CNN doing wishful reporting.
This split has always been there it just finally came to the surface.
The Libertarian wing of the Right has always opposed any use of US force anywhere at any time
Another lib wet dream
There’s also the anti-Semitic Pat Buchanan wing represented here.
If a Jew is around, it’s their fault.
The amount of money Hamas and Iran have spent to organize anti-Israel rallies around the world is probably staggering. But it seems to work in their favor. Rumor has it that Israel will split Gaza in a dmz, no go zone down the middle and have selective areas that can be controlled by non-Palestinians.

You work for CNN now?
The poll found that 67% of Palestinian respondents overall supported Hamas's decision to attack Israel that day, a massacre that killed some 1,200 people and shocked the world in its barbarism. Broken down by territory, support in the West Bank was higher, at 73%, compared to support within Gaza, at 57%.
And so it begins.
The “maga movement splits” lie has been exposed.
The poll supposedly underlying this shows Republican voters’ support of Israel increased from 66% to 70%. Literally the opposite of the headline.
The article that started this lie actually cites this about 8 paragraphs in and relies on, well nothing, to reach its conclusion.
I think that the Israelis should have gone into Gaza with crippling and overwhelming violence and ended any semblance of resistance!
But, fear of international opprobrium stopped them.
They tried to fight a “nice” war and now, they face “international opprobrium!”
No it hasnt
CNN. I’d take this with a large grain of sea salt. They have no credibility.
Next CNN is going to tell us that POTUS is going to nuke Israel because of that that blood libel "New York Times" report that gave the fiction of a kid who had cerebral palsy and was described as being starved of food by us perfidious Jews.
If such a story were to appear, I wouldn't be surprised.
How many divisions do they have?
But, fear of international opprobrium stopped them.
Unconditional surrender.
We demanded that from Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.
The international opinion is pro-Hamas and anti-Israel.
Now the challenge for Bibi is to wrap up the war in Gaza.
I don’t know what Israel is doing and I honestly don’t care. But I do support them.
Palisine can be recognized only after Gaza is razed to the ground. No stone standing should be the policy.
