Texas Republicans unveiled a new congressional map on Wednesday that would provide their party with five new red-leaning districts, a plan that โ if enacted โ could provide a boost to the party as it tries to cling to control of the House.
The redraw would significantly benefit Republicans by making districts held by Democratic Reps. Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez, who both represent heavily-Latino areas of the Rio Grande Valley, redder, and make some Democratic-controlled districts even bluer in an attempt to create GOP-leaning districts elsewhere.

Saddle up!
Good.
Waiting for the 'violence' claims re the headline... /s
(ps...from what I know, Texans would prefer a bloodbath)
Ca did this with no restraint whatsoever. Itโs only a problem when Rโs do it.
If we lose Texas...
Dems: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ๐ต.
All legal per TX laws. Buhbye jazz-mean? ๐
Its absolutely HILARIOUS hearing Democrats cry into their milk about this and screaming how this is not fair, meanwhile they import MILLIONS of illegal aliens into this country so they can be counted in the census and give Dems more congressional seats, without illegals Dems would lose 30 house seats..so here’s my suggestion to Dems, if you want to be fair, fine, don’t count illegals in the census, you lose those house seats, and we won’t add to the congressional map, sound good?
How long before a judge in NY puts an injunction on it?
Aren’t Dems trying to add 9 to CA? Come on Texas you can do better.
Maryland 7-1 in favor of the Democrats. Illinois is quite bad with 14 Democrats and 3 Republicans.
Which is why they fight it.
Are we sure the Republicans won’t screw it up?
Enough of thse gerrymandering wars. Needed: a genuinely unbiased, impartial districting system that applies everywhere. Congress can enact this.
They will sue and have some judge rule the new districts unconstitutional.
The Dems have already gerrymandered as many seats as they are gonna get in CA. Don’t be afraid of them. The GOP should gerrymander as many seats as possible to match what the Dems have already done.
I haven’t look but I would wager that most of Obamas deportees were from Red States, lowering their EC count. Illegals should not be counted for congressional districts as you say.
Amarillo and Denton in the same congressional district, it appears (13). Plano split between 3 districts. (3, 4, 32)
How? Every “impartial” committee, group, or board you try to construct quickly gets packed by the party in charge.
It’s been tried many times and ends the same way every time.
