UnitedHealth says it is under a federal criminal and civil investigation regarding Medicare business and is cooperating - AP
That’s a shock.
It should be noted that the complaints appear to only come from those using United Healthcare for Part C (Medicare Advantage), not Traditional Medicare...which makes sense, since Part C is essentially an HMO.
Class action lawsuit where everyone can get $20 if they file a $30 report on their case.
All of them need a look into.
And the lawyers get tens of millions.
lol. 😂 true
Oh yeah? A family member who has long been a United Health insured at work has a problem with them in which United is acting in a remarkably dishonest and high-handed manner. A complaint is likely if the problem cannot be solved.
I wonder if this is the real reason the stock cratered by 50% a few months ago, and the then-CEO Sir Andrew Witty resigned overnight “for personal reasons” (NEVER happens at that level).

Good ...
A cynic would wonder if Brian Thompson (shot by Luigi Mangione) was cooperating with the Feds / was a whistleblower.

Not surprised - but this article was about Medicare. I’m just letting people know that there are choices regarding Medicare, and don’t take the WRONG CHOICE (as in Part C). For work plans, people will always have less control over their treatment than Traditional Medicare.
My shocked face....😴. No doubt they aren’t the only ones with so many tax dollars being tossed around with so little oversight. Until now. A good business man looks for ways to cut losses and gain income. Sorta like PDJT. Not sure why there is a problem. Just kidding. I do know why.
I am an independent businessperson. Used to have United Healthcare. Was less than pleased with them. Changed over to Blue Cross Blue Shield. Much happier with them.
Yes. Had my quarterly investment meeting with my advisors on Monday. They talked quite a bit about UNH. They feel the stock damage has largely been done and stems from potentially fraudulent practices with Medicaid Part C reimbursements. Their opinion is the return of the CEO helps and what will likely be a large fine will give more negative press but they will recover.
The essence of the issue is that United is trying to avoid issuing a post-work continuation policy by making unexplained assertions about medical history that they have compelling reason to know are false. My understanding is that United has software that generates such false assertions as to medical history in order to vex older applicants and induce them to abandon their applications. United is run by crooks.
folks here need to understand that Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are a trap ... too many people sign up thinking they’re a bargain, but can switch to regular Medicare should they contract severe illnesses ... they can indeed switch, BUT only to Plan A and Plan B, but WITHOUT the critical Medigap plans that cover the 20% that regular medicare doesn’t cover, because there’s regular Medigap plans are oblitcated to sell you one ONLY if you buy one when you first sign up for Medicare ... after that, they will NOT sell you a plan if your health is poor ...
buying Medicare Advantage and then thinking you can switch to regular Medicare should you become extremely ill is like thinking you can switch from super high deductible casualty insurance to super low deductible casualty insurance on the same day that your house catches on fire ...
Yep, you NAILED it. Maybe we should have start a Medicare thread as I’m sure many here could use some unbiased information.
Medicare part G seems to work well except for their billing of premiums and that is a horrible mess. I am creeping in on satisfaction with the shockingly great help of the Oklahoma State Board of Insurance.
Advantage is a circle jerk circus. We live near the state line and going to the doc in Arkansas is much closer than Oklahoma. Advantage does not honor our of network (state) full coverage. Speaking with the case worker in our recent hospitalization she said Advantage people check in and get the shock of their lives when they get the bill not understanding the terms of Advantage.
Our traditional Medicare coverage paid as she said and I was even pleasantly surprised when we settled the bill. It still did not make me feel good about IRMA treatment.

That would be very helpful.
