French President Macron, wife Brigitte sue Candace Owens for defamation from transgender claim

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, on Wednesday sued right-wing provocateur podcaster Candace Owens for repeatedly falsely claiming that Brigitte Macron “is in fact a man.”

The Macrons’ 22-count civil lawsuit accusing Owens of defamation and false light alleges that Owens, since March 2024, has “used this false statement” about Brigitte Macron “to promote her independent platform, gain notoriety, and make money.”

“Owens disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim in favor of platforming known conspiracy theorists and proven defamers,” the lawsuit filed in Delaware Superior Court says.

“And rather than engage with President and Mrs. Macron’s attempts to set the record straight, Owens mocked them and used them as additional fodder for her frenzied fan base,” says the suit, which notes that Brigitte Macron bore three children from her first husband.

The complaint says that Owens’ allegedly knowingly false statements about the Macrons include claims that they are blood relatives who have committed incest, and that President Macron was chosen to be president as part of a CIA-operated program or “similar mind-control program.”

She will learn a valuable lesson.

Maybe that she should have remained a secretary instead of using her race and conservative talk to presume to have knowledge and experience she doesn’t have.

What goes around...

Maybe now Owen will think over the way she went against Kimberly Klacik.

I’m assuming they’ll try an out of court settlement. Good to the French guys on that.

Are they saying that being trans is bad?

M. Macron already lost a defamation suit against a blogger in a French court. What makes her think she can possibly win here? That’s correct: a French Appeals Court ruled against M. Macron last month. Malice and speaking what one “knows” is false is the standard for defamation. I’m not a Candace fan, but, I do not see how a foreign head of state can sue against the First Amendment rights of a foreign citizen.

Regardless of this case, the U.S. ‘justice’ system is amuck bigtime.

I was going to post the same thing, Candace Owens has said some really crazy things in the last couple of years and I thought the entire Brigette Macron was born a man was totally crazy, when I heard that a French Appeals Court ruled against the Macron’s in a defamation suit, I began to think maybe just maybe there is something to the claim.

Owens has made a good case on this one, notwithstanding her nonsense on Israel.

Apparently, this isn't something Candace just pulled out of her posterior. She and whatever team she has looked into this whole thing quite a bit and she believes she has evidence to back up her claims. We'll see what happens.

That probably has to do with defamation law.

Brigitte Macron is not a man; but that doesn’t mean that people can’t say that she is with impunity under certain circumstances.

Whether they get anywhere with this or not, I’m glad they’re causing Owens trouble.

Indeed! Candace has gone nutty re: Israel, but, the claims against Brigitte are not outrageous at all when you give it a listen. I cannot imagine that the Macrons could possibly have standing. Anyway, why doesn’t she release her birth certificate and solve the whole issue? That’s easy enough
