The Trump administration’s work to rectify its predecessors’ misconduct continues, this time with a formal apology from the U.S. Army for a Biden-era military presentation that labeled mainstream pro-life organizations “terrorist groups.”
As LifeSiteNews covered last year, a photograph leaked of a presentation shown during an anti-terrorism briefing at Fort Bragg (renamed Fort Liberty at the time), right after one about the Islamist terror group ISIS. It named the pro-life groups National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) and Operation Rescue (OR) as “terrorist groups,” characterized by their opposition to abortion and Roe v. Wade (misspelled “Row”). It listed various types of activism that pro-life groups typically practice, most of which were obviously peaceful, including an image of a “Choose Life” license plate, which are available in many states and the proceeds from which typically go to support local pregnancy support organizations.
However, in the bottom two bullet points (which were partially obscured), “Bombing of Clinics” and “Attempted Murders” could be read. Left-wing activists have long attempted to tar pro-lifers as a whole with the rare violent acts of a few, which mainstream pro-life advocates and organizations have always overwhelmingly condemned. Especially in recent years, pro-abortion violence has been far more common than anti-abortion violence, as admitted by former FBI Director Christopher Wray in November 2022.
On July 16, 2025, current U.S. Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll sent a letter to the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), which represents OR, on behalf of himself and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, formally offering his “sincerest apology” for the Army’s actions under the previous administration.
The slide’s “mischaracterization was not only inaccurate but also deeply inappropriate,” Driscoll wrote. “Equally concerning was the previous Administration’s inadequate response to this serious incident. Its failure to provide full transparency or take responsibility for such a grievous error is wholly unacceptable.”
“Let me be clear, the Army does not consider Operation Rescue, National Right to Life, and other pro-life groups to be terrorist organizations,” he said. “Further, the Army does not view pro-life beliefs or state-issued pro-life license plates as indicators of terrorism.”
“On behalf of our client Troy Newman and Operation Rescue, and all pro-life Americans, thank you, Secretary Driscoll and Secretary Hegseth, for your apology, your acknowledgment, your assurances, and for calling this travesty what it was, a false mischaracterization, inaccurate, serious, grievous, and deeply inappropriate,” responded ACLJ executive director Jordan Sekulow. “Also, we thank you for standing up against the Leftist ideology that had been infecting our military branches and bogging down our warfighters, often cloaked in the bureaucratic morass. We know you have a lot of work to do, and that you took time to address this – not just in response to an oversight function of Congress, but directly to our client who was among those harmed – confirms your commitment to the values for which you fight.”
“For years, Army trainers falsely told thousands of soldiers that Operation Rescue posed a terror threat to our country. The damage this has caused our nonviolent organization is something that cannot be undone with a simple apology, no matter how sincere,” added Newman himself. “Operation Rescue works tirelessly through all peaceful, legal means available to end the violent act of abortion, expose abortion abuses, and call for accountability to those who harm pregnant women and their babies. This work has saved countless lives and helped promote new laws that provide greater protection for the women and children for whom we advocate. Hopefully, this apology will help to finally clear our name.”
NRLC president Carol Tobias also responded, stating that they “welcome the apology” and “thank the Secretary for his assurances that the U.S. Army does not believe that National Right to Life is a terrorist organization and that it does not believe pro-life Americans and their beliefs are considered indicators of terrorism. In our over 50-year history, National Right to Life has always had a policy of peace and has consistently, and unequivocally, condemned violence against anyone.”
The steady rise of “woke” ideology within the military, which has persisted and grown since the Clinton years despite the presidencies of Republicans George W. Bush and Trump’s first administration, were intensified by former President Joe Biden, who upon taking office quickly moved to open the military to recruits suffering from gender dysphoria in a reversal of Trump policy, then had his Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin launch a review of supposed “domestic extremism” within the military that many saw as a pretext to purge conservative views from the ranks. Under Biden, the military also mandated COVID-19 shots and promoted LGBT “pride.”
In the first month of his second administration, Trump began the reversal of past presidents’ politicization of the military by reestablishing the transgender military ban; by reinstating soldiers who had been discharged over COVID shots with their former ranks, back pay, and benefits; by ordering the elimination of “Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion” (DEI) programs from the military and discharge of service members afflicted with gender confusion. The administration also banned LGBT and “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) flags from being flown at U.S. embassies and other State Department facilities and ended observation of all identity-based “cultural awareness” months, including LGBT “Pride Month.”
Ping
One if by land, two if by sea. Row versus wade
Now, declare drug-gangs and muzzards to be domestic terrorists, and we may just have something.
NOPE.
No BS “announcements.”
Somebody did this.
FIND THEM, ALL OF THEM, AND FIRE THEM.
.
I agree. Perhaps I’m making a bad analogy, but I feel like it’s 1946 and Germans are shrugging and apologizing because, you know, a bunch of bad stuff happened between 1932 and 1945.
Individuals ought to be put on trial. Individuals ought to hang for some of what took place. That’s how we used to do it. We used to hold individuals accountable for the actions they took.
I think this is a very good turn of events. Even if some are unsatisfied.
The winning is so thick, bits like this nearly go unnoticed
Lib officers were just fine with this action. They should be outed and cashiered.
No apology needed. After you call someone a nig**r, you nerd not apologize: the truth about you is out.
The military could care less about protecting the innocent, only making sure all are lockstep what “he” says for promotions.
Every officer ought be fired. We’ll take our chances with foreign countries all. The tree is poison.
The Milley bunch of Queers.
Apology not accepted. Too little too late.
