A knockoff baseball cap using the New York Mets’ orange and blue colors and iconic “NY” logo to boost Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral campaign is being hawked online – without permission from the club or Major League Baseball, The Post has learned.
The cap reads “Zohran for NY Mayor,” with the interlocking “NY” being the trademarked Mets logo.
Some sellers, such as Good Shirts, which was charging $29.95 Friday for the commie cap, claim on their websites that “a portion of proceeds will be donated to Zohran Mamdani’s campaign fund.”
Another online seller, Eletees, was charging $40.95 per cap and boasts it’s “perfect for Mets games, political rallies, or casual outings, offering a stylish way to show support for both the team and the candidate.”
Selling unauthorized merchandise that uses MLB team logos, names and other trademarks is considered trademark infringement, and the league has a long history of suing bogus sellers.
MLB said it was unaware of the Mamdani Mets’ caps until notified by The Post and would review the matter. The Mets did not return messages.
Mamdani campaign spokesman Andrew Epstein said Mamdani is a Mets fan but has nothing to do with knockoff caps or its sellers.

HANG every Chinese person involved in this propaganda aimed at sabotaging the United States. FU CHINA.
Well, or course. He in no way believes in copyright protections. It would be nice to see him get taught a lesson, the loser.
I hope they sue him big and they should win. It resembles the Mets logo so much, that you’d think he’d have gotten permission ahead of time.
Liberal Thinking
“If you owned two homes, are you willing to give one to a family here illegally?”
The liberal, without hesitation, “Sure!”
Republican: “If you have two vehicles, would you give one to an illegal?”
Liberal: “Absolutely! It’s the right thing to do!”
Republican: “If you have two million dollars, will you give one million to a family here illegally?”
Liberal: Yes! For the livelihood of our dreamers!”
Republican: “If you have two bicycles, would you give one to someone here illegally?”
The Liberal remained silent and looked at the Republican, so the Republican had to ask again, “Would you?”
The Liberal answered firmly: “No.”
The Republican was confused. “You were so generous about houses, vehicles and money, but why do you draw the line at a bicycle?”
“Because,” says the Liberal, “I actually own two bicycles.”
Look at how clever they were to link the end of the “n” and the “y” in the middle of mayor in the words for the Commie they promote. Artist will be working on the new Communist American Flag shortly. /S
NY Mets and MLB will probably give up to avoid huge boycotts of games and merchandize if they squawk too loudly.
Like the kneeling for George Floyd but retreating behind the seating when they saw the American flag or some Marines starting to play the National Anthem.
Good post of that important analogy.
The beginning part reminded me of the early unions that ended up modifying a little by the 1960s but still were for the taxing of the achievers and sharing the wealth of entrepreneurs who provided their own employment opportunities to be union members.
In the 1960s the opening of the Dem presidential campaigns included giant rallies in the street in Detroit and elsewhere of union members shouting support for JFK, LBJ and the rest.
In the 1970s and 1980s the crowds were less important.
One observer said to the Dem strategist: “How come the crowds are so much smaller for the union rallies here now?”
“Well, a lot of the members are at their second homes up north at the lakeshore and they don’t come to these any more.”
Poor, downtrodden, exploited workers owned second homes.
Dude, everything belongs to the State under communism…… 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I hope he wins it.
THEN there really will be another American Revolution and Mamdani will be hanged in effigy.
He must think that someone actually cares what he thinks.
The New Yorkers will get tough as only New Yorkers can be.
They will go after him because if they don't "police their mark", anyone else could start using it.
"Trademark owners have a duty to police their mark. This applies to all types of marks – brand names, slogans, color, product shapes, or even a smell. The cost of dropping the ball on this duty can range from a bar on future enforcement of your rights against a particular company to a complete loss of all trademark rights. As a practical business reality, the value of marks that are not policed and their associated goodwill are always in danger.
This duty includes policing (1) for unauthorized uses of a mark, (2) for uses of confusingly similar marks, and (3) uses by approved trademark licensees."

Excellent. Keeping that one...thanks!
What you described was actually said by the Pres of the ILA Teddy Gleeson in 85 or 86. He was asked why the ILA no longer marched in NYC’s Labor Day Parade. He said, “ My guys are busy closing up their summer homes out on Long Island or down on the Jersey Shore. They can’t make it here on Labor Day.”
Interestingly the NY Unions changed the date of the parade to the Saturday after Labor Day.
More than one. Thanks for that reference.
My story was from the Detroit News because I am a provincial Michigan person myself.
Went to college at Wayne State University which is home of the Walter P. Reuther Library, Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs. It’s the largest labor archive in North America.
Also once or twice a week for about three years I drove past the Machus Red Fox Restaurant where Jimmy Hoffa was last seen alive. I have an alibi for that day, though.
If anybody asks, we were at grandma’s.

Long time Met fan, here. I used to think so, too, but look closely at the top and bottom of the “N” and the bottom of the “Y”. The curvature is opposite. Pretty sure the NY (Baseball) Giants log was the inspiration for the Mets logo, however. ALSO: I did not learn, until fairly late, in life, The Giant Orange and Dodger Blue were the genesis of the Mets Colors.
FREEgards !
Dodger Blue and Giant orange is true.
But they are also the colors of NYC from the flag of the Dutch Republic. And the first team to sport botk were the NY Knickerbockers aka Knicks.
Close enough after 62 years.
(In a just universe, you would have begun that post with “Long time Giant fan, here”, unless of course you are from Brooklyn, as SF and LA would have gotten expansion teams..)
Good Old Father Knickerbocker, from New Amsterdam ! :)
That’s a good point. Go get him, Mets!
Went to my first game at Shea in that magical year of ‘69 - Koosman vs. Jenkins, 55,000 in the house for an afternoon game. Ed Kranepool hit a walk off RBI in the 9th, and the hook was in ! Ron Santo did not click his heels, that day ;)
