Ireland to Reject EU Demands to Impose Hate Speech Restrictions: Report

The Irish government is reportedly set to reject demands from the European Union to implement hate speech legislation after Dublin abandoned plans to do so last year.

In September of last year, the Irish government scrapped plans to criminalize so-called hate speech in its Criminal Justice Bill, which would have allowed the state to send someone to prison for up to five years for “incitement to hatred against persons on account of their protected characteristics”.

The move to abandon the controversial section of the bill came as Justice Minister Helen McEntee admitted that it did “not have a consensus” among the Irish population.

In response, the European Commission, the executive arm of the EU, warned that Dublin may face legal action from Brussels for failing to meet the bloc’s stringent speech standards.

The commission said in May that Ireland “still fails to transpose the provisions related to criminalizing the public incitement to violence or hatred against a group or a member of such group based on certain characteristics, as well as the conducts of condoning, denial and gross trivialization of international crimes and the Holocaust”.

According to a report from The Sunday Times, which cited sources within the coalition government, Dublin will respond this week by declaring that the country is “already properly transposing EU directives”. …

It’s not about incitement to violence in the manner the EUSSR claims, but punishing any criticism of Islam.

Ireland has attempted to block major EU plans in the past. On one occasion they had a referendum blocking a proposal that required unanimous support. The EU just ordered them to hold another referendum in which huge threats were announced if they voted "no" again.

They voted "yes".

Ireland,a country that has defiantly refused to follow orders from London, has no problem bowing to Berlin.

You’re either a sovereign nation in control of your own destiny or you’re a vassal state under the rule of a larger empire.

Today Ireland sits at that crossroads. My hope and prayer is that our Irish friends choose wisely.

No; Ireland has not been at such a crossroads. They’ve been a vassal to the EUSSR since 1972. Now if they move to leave the EUSSR, that would be a crossroads indeed.

Of course.
Otherwise the Nazi regime that’s taken over the Irish government would all be spewing their vile hate from prison

Ireland is incomprehensible at this point. Turned this abomination of tyranny back but...

The Irish government is apparently a bunch of British operatives who have made November 21, 1920 null and void.

Dublin is nothing like it was even three years ago.

Of course Ireland did. It has been conquered by islam which will eventually decapitate the homosexuals they teamed up with to take it over.

“the European Commission, the executive arm of the EU, warned that Dublin may face legal action from Brussels for failing to meet the bloc’s stringent speech standards.”

If this comes to pass, Ireland, take the next step and leave the authoritarian EU. There are no real benefits to being in that awful club.

If they do, they had better not do it the same way that Britain did, which was according to the EUSSR’s rules by invoking Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon and gave all the advantages to the EUSSR.

Invoking rebus sic stantibus would be the way to go, which renders the treaty (really the EUSSR constitution) invalid. However, I do not expect any Irish politician to do that since they are all EUSSR apparatchiks themselves.
