Staffers at the Environmental Protection Agency who signed a letter of dissent against President Donald Trump have been placed on leave, reports The Hill.
"The Environmental Protection Agency has a zero-tolerance policy for career bureaucrats unlawfully undermining, sabotaging, and undercutting the administration's agenda as voted for by the great people of this country last November," EPA spokesperson Brigit Hirsch said in a written statement.
A group of more than 170 employees at the EPA on Monday published a declaration of dissent from policies under the Trump administration, saying, they "undermine the EPA mission of protecting human health and the environment."
The EPA responded to the letter with a statement saying the policy decisions "are a result of a process where Administrator [Lee] Zeldin is briefed on the latest research and science by EPA's career professionals and the vast majority who are consummate professionals who take pride in the work this agency does day in and day out."

I’m not sure on the nuances for this particular instance, but I believe it is really hard to fire civil servants. But one justifiable reason is “insubordination”. I think their letter of dissent might make full termination quite easy.

Yep their job is to take orders from the Executive Branch, not impede those orders and implement their own agenda.
Not rocket science, but...then again, they aren’t rocket scientists.

President Trump may have established Trump Self-Service For Democrats, and saved money doing so!

Probably 98% of these EPA jobs are unnecessary and a waste of taxpayers money anyway, if not all of them.

You don't need to fire them. You can encourage them to quit. One method is to assign them a bare table and an ergonomic chair and have them sit there all day. No phone and no computer and no personal reading allowed. Just sit there and think about stuff.

They should put everyone on the polygraph to unveil the ones who were too cowardly to actually sign it. Then fire them, too
