House Republicans Threaten to Sink Trump’s Megabill
The Wall Street Journal ^ | July 2, 2025 | Olivia Beavers

Some House Republicans are already lining up to oppose President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” with conservatives and centrists blasting the legislation just hours after Vice President JD Vance cast his tiebreaking vote on the Senate version.

The number of House Republicans vowing to oppose the Senate version is enough to block the bill’s passage, though past standoffs have been resolved after successful pressure campaigns by the president and party leaders. Given Republicans’ thin 220-212 majority, the bill would fail if more than three House Republicans join Democrats in opposing it.

Holdout lawmakers headed to the White House on Wednesday morning. Party leaders are planning an initial procedural vote on the floor, with full passage possible as soon as later Wednesday or Thursday. Trump wants the bill on his desk this week to meet his self-imposed July 4 deadline, though there are no practical consequences to waiting.

Rep. Ralph Norman (R., S.C.), a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, voted early Wednesday morning against moving the president’s tax bill out of the House Rules Committee, joined by fellow caucus member Rep. Chip Roy (R., Texas). The panel debated and then narrowly advanced the bill to the House floor.

It’s plausible Thomas Massie could block Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill in the House, as about 20 Republicans oppose it, and the procedural vote is stuck at 204-212. The bill’s $20 trillion debt impact fuels resistance, backed by figures like Elon Musk. However, GOP leadership is pushing hard, and Trump’s influence might sway votes. The outcome is uncertain as the vote continues today.

The worst thing about the Senate bill is the SALT deduction because we'll have to pay more in federal taxes if we live in red states.

What that means is they are upset about how much pork the Senate added to their original bill.

Not because of fiscal responsibility on the House's part but because had House members known what the Senate would do, the House would have piled more pork into what they originally sent to the Senate.

You “Freepers” are a trip. Everyone of us folks on here, far right, centrist, far left but still within conservative standards should applaud this stupid thing getting bogged down.
The idea that it may get incomes and revenue up and therefore eventually get closer to balancing the budget is absurd. Being against this isn’t anti-MAGA/Trump, it’s going back to our roots of the TEA Party ideals. Trump told us months ago that he wanted to bloat the government and increase the spending and the debt. He hired the DOGE folks to root out evil corruption and when they did, he still wants the more money!?!? It’s even worse to show the waste and then ask for more.
Civil discussions folks, what say you?

If the BBB dies, who will cheer, who will celebrate?

DEMOCRATS, that’s who, followed by their media minions!

Do you want Democrats to celebrate? Do you?

Pass the f*cking bill!

Trump and most Rs want the deficit reduced. A few compromised Rs are getting in the way, which in ‘25 makes proper deficit reduction impossible absent some bone-breaking arm twisting.

A BBB which passes now virtually assures a favorable mid-term for Rs. Failure to pass spells doom for the rest of Trump’s revolution.

Recisions are around the corner. Actual budgeting will be back. DOGE cuts will be codified IF we retain majorities. Govt. shrinking / reorganizing is happening and will continue IF we retain majorities. Cost plus budgeting will be jettisoned.
Budget cuts will be actual cuts, no just slower increases. There is no reason in hell why COVID spending must carry on forever, and everyone (except Ds) know it.

Tariffs are bringing big bucks....1/2 trillion by many accounts.

The deficit will be shrinking from this point forward, if we pass this final CR.

Unfortunately the alternative is to do nothing, have a massive tax hike, get none of the good policies mixed in the pork, and let the chips fall where they may. It’s a bold strategy Cotton.

People who want a major tax hike will love it.

The Big Beautiful Bill Now Back in The House – Speaker Johnson Timing Floor Vote

July 2, 2025 | Sundance

With the BBB back in the House of Representatives, Speaker Mike Johnson now has the difficult job to push the bill to a final floor vote and get it to President Trump’s desk.

Anticipating pushback and refusal of support from the House Freedom Caucus, earlier this morning President Trump sent a message via Truth Social drawing attention to the objective of the bill to generate economic growth:

PRESIDENT TRUMP – “Nobody wants to talk about GROWTH, which will be the primary reason that the Big, Beautiful Bill will be one of the most successful pieces of legislation ever passed. THIS GROWTH has already begun at levels never seen before. Trillions of Dollars are now being invested into the USA, more than ever before. Likewise, hundreds of Billions of Dollars in Tariffs are filling up the coffers of Treasury. The Tariff money has already arrived and is setting new records! We are growing our way out of the Sleepy Joe Biden MESS that he and the Democrats left us, and it is happening much faster than anyone thought possible. Our Country will make a fortune this year, more than any of our competitors, but only if the Big, Beautiful Bill is PASSED! As they say, Trump’s been right about everything, and this is the easiest of them all to predict. Republicans, don’t let the Radical Left Democrats push you around. We’ve got all the cards, and we are going to use them. Last year America was a “DEAD” Nation, with no hope for the future, and now it’s the “HOTTEST NATION IN THE WORLD!” MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Meanwhile, as noted by Politico: “House Freedom Caucus members like Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) blasted the Senate’s bill Tuesday for adding to the deficit and softening clean energy tax credits. Roy and Norman both voted against the bill in the Rules Committee overnight.”

Speaker Johnson has to navigate the timing of the BBB reaching the floor, and in an effort to dissuade the concerns of the professional republican naysayers he is informing them of possible alternatives to changes in the current bill.

In an interview on Fox News on Tuesday night, Johnson said the House will plan to do two more reconciliation bills during this session of Congress, which ends in 2026.”

Massie is gone. He voted for every Biden big spending bill but now he’s a fiscal conservative? He’s way upside down in every poll and good riddance.

Which means you just have to buy 2 votes.
Just for good measure.
It will pass.
They always do.

THIS WOULD BE HUGE ‼️

MTG introducing a bill to mandate the census ONLY COUNT US CITIZENS in determining congressional seats

I just asked Grok and Grok confirms when you exclude illegals from the Census, Democrats are estimated TO LOSE 27 SEATS IN CONGRESS

THE END OF DEMOCRATS
