Well, I can join the ranks of getting up at night now.

Although my surgery was supposed to help that, and I think it’s for other reasons.

I got in the habit on the first came home of going to bed right after dinner and taking a pain pill. Think it wore off the middle of the night so I started watching movies at two or 3 AM. It was very relaxing! So then I needed a nap middle of the afternoon. Two cats and a dog decided that was a great idea and now they are sitting on the bed in the middle of the afternoon waiting for me. So apparently I need to continue that. I so enjoyed peacefully watching movies in the middle of the night when it was quiet, that I’m still doing that. I just wake up and find something.

So I guess this is my new normal.

Hello Train riders

Busy active day here

up 7:30 punched out Sunday AM ritual: —when i get my new hearing aids will try going to church again. See if I can hear the minister and hear. Before and after services.

Now its clean bathroom, fill pill container, change bedding, get things started for meal. Clean liter boxWe only eat one meal a day between 3-6

This took me to noon. Read outside and hour and then worked in yard three hours a lot of cleanup of cutting back the annuals and the perennials ; oak tree leaves trying to get them pushed together for a mowing which will be used for mulch

cleaned out my two raised beds and was pleasantly surprised to find about six potatoes also two plants were growing wasn’t sure what they were they looked very hearty considering we’ve had a hard freeze so I pulled it out and low and the behold —avocado!!!

this is only humorous because for two years I’ve tried to grow an avocado -you know with the toothpicks and the jar and everything that supposed tobwork but never success. and these were ones that I just threw in the raised bed with the compost. well anyway I put them in pots. Water will probably bring them in there’s absolutely no room for plants in this place however. Another challenge

Made Jef pizza for dinner. takes a while to chop up all the ingredients and the meats for him. Did in morning. I use five meats today and four vegetables. I put on extra cheese, extra herbs and extra sauce. I put it on top of a Digiorio cheese pizza crust today.

I had hoped to do some beating and watch a movie tonight. It’s 530 and all I wanna do is wash up and go to bed. We’re in last light before total darkness here. Boo

I’m using dictation and it’s very hard to proof on my cell phone with my macular degeneration front and center so I hope you can figure out things that look weird

You’ve had a busy day! I’m still trying to follow my restrictions so I’m doing hardly anything. But at least I’m feeling better not doing it! But it makes me more tempted.

I think God did me a favor in a way, for five weeks I wasn’t tempted in the least, and I was very careful. Blessings in disguise.

Need your help, hubby went and bought me sweet potatoes. They are huge! What can I do with them? I normally get the smaller tapered ones and put them in foil and bake them at a high temperature until caramelized. I suppose I can do that with the big ones?

I know it’s a pain in the neck, but they’d make a great batch of sweet potato fries....with chipotle dip.

Lol I love not having to worry about any of the Christmas madness. Thankfully, everyone here feels the same way.

Natalie tried for a few years to get me to put up a small tree. Lol I’ve always hated Christmas trees! I never did any decorating....I think there’s a scripture about putting up a tree and decorating it. I think I’ve always thought of Christmas as a false holiday because it was basically the hanging on to Saturnalia.

I have no problem with anyone who wants to participate. I just don’t consider it a Christian holiday.

* Sweet potato seasoning blend made from salt, pepper, smoked paprika, cayenne, cinnamon, onion powder, and garlic powder

OR

Cinnamon Sugar Blend: A combination of light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, fine sea salt, and ground nutmeg flavor the sweet version of these sweet potatoes perfectly. If you have whole nutmeg on hand, it will elevate the flavor even more if you grate your own.

OR

Savory Spice Blend: To make savory sweet potatoes that are perfect as an easy holiday side dish, I love seasoning them with a homemade spice blend made from dried thyme leaves, garlic powder, dried rosemary, ground black pepper, fine sea salt, and just a hint of cayenne pepper.

OR

Seasonings – I kept it simple with oregano, garlic powder, and paprika S & P

If you’re not sure how much to add, I recommend starting with 1-2 teaspoons of dried herbs (total), 1/2 teaspoon of any spices (each), or 2 teaspoons of a spice mix.
You an even drizzle in 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup (or my sugar-free maple syrup).

~~<><~~

Made blooming sweet potatoes in the air fryer today and not to be dramatic, but they might be the best thing I’ve ever done to a potato. I sliced them crosswise (not all the way through), brushed with olive oil, sprinkled salt and a little cinnamon sugar, microwaved for 5 mins until fork tender, then air-fried for 12–15 mins.. The edges caramelized, the center turned buttery soft, and the whole thing opened up like a crispy flower.

I added a dab of butter and a drizzle of honey on top—sweet, golden, and dangerously good. Basically dessert disguised as a side dish.

This interview from Lara Logan is unreal.

Stunning what President Trump is up against. I wonder if he actually knew what and who he was taking on. Thankfully, he’s certainly aware of it now, as this is a post from his page.

I sure am sorry for all that you have gone through. I kind of knew what was happening with you from the people here that were worried about you. I understand how you felt about the blood transfusion and not being sure about if the blood was tainted. I was going downhill so fast that I ended up with the what evers attitude. Have an appointment with the Hematologist on Dec. 1st to find out why my WBC and platelets are low. My hemoglobin and iron are better though. Still feeling so tired. I’m sure my shoulder surgery contributed to a lot of it too.

Losing my husband has been the hardest. Needed him so much through all of this.

Yes, here’s to a better year for all of us. I feel like I know you all from the years of lurking on this thread and Free Republic.

Thank you for all your kind words.

You both have certainly had your fair of misery lately. That’s so awful.

Redding, I’m so sorry about your dear husband. That makes it so much worse. My heart goes out to you.

I will sure be praying for a better new year for you both. Hang in there, ladies. It will get better.

I seem to be on the mend from my stomach virus. I’m now craving a salad. Yay!

One the downside, I did start having a sharp, stabbing, burning pain jab my foot at intervals beginning sometime Saturday. The pain has continued throughout the weekend, keeping me awake or waking me from sleep. Then, this morning, during such attack, a random thought entered my brain, “This feels like my shingles pain.”

Although I didn’t have a rash; there is no redness or swelling at the affected area; I texted The Hubs and asked if he’d swing by the drugstore and pick up some acyclovir. Fortunately, the druggist agreed with Mike and I have just started on the antiviral.

I’ll let you know. Shingles is reputed to be, in most cases, self-limiting, but I would LOVE to have this pain mitigated.

He’s got so much to do, against so much opposition. And most is so important to our survival.

Well I’m up! The movie went on without me as I fell asleep early, and woke early. Now I need to rewind and see where I remember anything. I’m watching a documentary about Henry VIII and of course his wives

So when you get up at night, you are coherent enough to check the computer? I can barely find my way to and from the bathroom, lol. I thought it would be neat to be an author who writes into the wee hours, but I would just write gibberish

Hahaha I’m up now. Yes, I will often sit down and check out what’s on X, etc.

I usually put something on to play quietly after I go back to bed. I start listening and am back asleep before I know it. Nothing is more relaxing than keeping up with the news! lol

Well i joined the ranks last night of semi insomnia - every two hours up and after a really exhausting day didn’t crash instantly as I had anticipated.

Jemian do you have diabetes or pre? My friend Mike’s journey started with what you described. And yes shingle pain is the B of pain for sure

RNA - i hope you have better luck with anemia diagnosis than i did. For several years my hemocrit level was very low and i had no energy and the symptoms you described . When first diagnosed in Oklahoma i had incredibly low reading of 4. Docs said i was lucky to be alive. I had just driven from Cleveland a few days prior to spend winter. Had been fatigued for months. I was at the oklahoma heart hospital in OKC. If one ever has a cardiac evrnt, theres no better place.

All my friends(including my brother) —“Ha!! eat meat you fool” ….after being a symptom free vegetarian for 40 years?

Doctors didn’t agree and were sure it was an ulcer in gut and had several upper & lower coloscopies. Not even a polyp. Never a diagnosis. Best guestimate i wasnt properly metabolizing the more than adequate iron continually in my lab work.

Then boom suddenly all the numbers great and never felt that very special fatigue one experiences with anemia.

Re: transfusions. The last two surgeries i had I requested no blood ((except the collected from my own body). Signed a waver and wore a wrist band. Even if life threatening. Told docs to be careful😊

Judy/Cotton - cant watch movies on phone n dont have cable services. Just a LOT of DVDs and BluRays. Cinema and tV series(GOT, 24, X-file, Monk, NCIS, Bones, Grimm, etc. Also have unwatched the complete works of Clint Eastwood, marlon Brando, Mel Gibson and a few others. Im set for life- plus

As my son’s head sleeping is about 20 feet from mine -with just a curtain- no door …making noise is s concern. Yes he has a bedroom. He’s slept on living room sofa since he moved in many years ago. Dont like it but…His place. His rules. I’ve adapted easily.

This isnt the hill to die on. His alcoholism was. Hes been sober 16 months now👍

Im comfortable with CC so in the rare occasion i watch a flick i just close curtain

But he is a true night owl. Often up still at 3AM

Jemian saw on FB your 14 year old wearing pants on head!!!😂 Tell us about it. New trend for kids in Indonesia?

Guess I’m one of the odd ones that likes cranberries. Canned or fresh

You know the recipe with cocktail weenies and BBQ Sauce & grape jelly? Use canned. Its delish

The fresh on brie (substitute for hot pepper jelly) is use my fresh cooked

Lemon, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, pecans but for with brie add a kick, hot pepper flakes, ginger, Texas pete

When i make up from fresh love them warm temp but next day on Greek yogurt or Tillamook Ice cream - cold
